Danny Baker claims he’s NOT taking part in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here as they wouldn’t give him a ‘case of white wine as my luxury item’

DANNY Baker claims he's NOT taking part in I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here because producers wouldn't let him bring a "case of white wine" into the jungle.

The Sun exclusively revealed the official line-up for this year's instalment of the popular reality show on Sunday but Danny has continued to tease fans about his involvement.

The 59-year-old broadcaster confused fans by saying he did talk to I'm A celeb producers but won't be appearing on the show.

He tweeted: "To be fair, I did have talks with #IACGMOOH this year but when I said my luxury item had to be a case of white wine the f*****s backed out."

He then added: "Sitting here seeing I am going in the Jungle next week. Chums, the very idea is preposterous. And to people I'm now working with: calm down."

Danny later posted a picture of him enjoying a glass of cold vino 'Down Under'.

He wrote: "Ok, you got me. Here I am in Australia. #JungleBoy."

However, some of his followers called his bluff and asked why Colin Murray is filling in for him on BBC Radio 5 show for the next month.

The Sun revealed last month that Danny was the show's most expensive signing with him bagging a six figure sum for a trip to the jungle.

A source revealed: “Danny has become this year’s highest paid celebrity in the jungle so far after scooping a six figure sum.

He’s a real broadcasting legend and so bosses were desperate to sign him.

“Danny doesn’t need the money but producers made him an offer he just couldn’t refuse.

“He’s a real curve ball name, and they’re the sort of signings ITV want.”

Danny is best pals with former Top Gear presenter Chris Evans, 50, and wrote the scripts for TFI Friday.

During the 1990s, Danny and Chris were regularly pictured out drinking with footballer Paul Gascoigne, 49.

They were even blamed by some for leading Gazza astray in the build up to the 1998 World Cup, which saw the star dropped from the England squad.

His friendship with Evans helped him cope with his illness, especially as his income dried up when he was unable to work due his health battles.

The father-of-three has had a particularly difficult few years as he was forced to undergo intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy for mouth and throat cancer.

And the treatment left the telly favourite without saliva glands or taste buds and chronic pins and needles in his hands and feet. Despite this, insiders say Danny is thrilled to be putting an end to his traumatic few years by heading into the Australian jungle.

A source added: “Danny is absolutely buzzing to be heading into I’m A Celeb. “He’s always been a fan of the show and can’t wait to be thrust back into the public eye again having stepped out of the spotlight for some time to battle the disease.

“He’s a big personality and bosses think he’s going to bring a lot of banter and laughter into the camp.”
