Heartbreak for Kylie Minogue as splits from boyfriend after five years – and the reason she wanted to keep under wraps
KYLIE Minogue has split from her British boyfriend of five years - a year after returning to Australia.
According to friends, the star, 54, has called time on her romance with GQ exec Paul Solomons as she prepares to embark on a new world tour.
The pair, who still follow one another on Instagram, were last pictured together on the red carport of the ABBA Voyage in May.
Last night a source close to former GQ exec said: “Long distance isn’t easy for any couple.
“Kylie and Paul really tried to make things work but ultimately the time difference was a killer - Paul couldn’t exactly nip to Melbourne for a long weekend whenever things got strained.
“Kylie initially wanted to keep the split quiet though as she really does not want the narrative to be ‘poor, unlucky-in-love-Kylie’s heartbreak’s again’.

“She’s a powerful, hugely successful woman - and isn’t moping around, heartbroken.
“She and Paul remain friends.
“But, for now, Kylie has a new album to promote, and a world tour to get cracking with - she’s hugely excited about starting this new chapter in her life.”
While Paul still boasts a photo of his famous ex on Instragram, there is no trace of him on the superstar’s own homepage.

In 2021 the couple - introduced through mutual friends in 2018 - were forced to spend nine months apart due to Covid, with Kylie holed-up down under and magazine mogul, Paul, in London.
Famously Kylie, who recently teased her upcoming 16th studio album, has had a fairly turbulent love life.
After bursting to fame on cult Aussie soap Neighbours, the actress dated her on-screen love interest, Jason Donovan.
The pair split after three years when the I Should Be So Lucky singer fell in love with late INXS rocker, Michael Hutchence.
Having been linked to Lenny Kravitz, she then dated model James Gooding who cheated on her with supermodel Sophie Dahl.
In 2005 she fell in love with French actor Olivier Martinez for five years. He was with her as she bravely battled breast cancer.
The star also had relationships with Spanish models Andres Velencoso and Brit Joshua Sasse to whom she got engaged in 2016.
Speaking about her long-distance relationship with Paul last February, Kylie said: “I’m quite used to it.
“What is difficult is explaining it and I’m hovering around that right now because I don’t have a traditional set-up when it comes to my relationship.
“I don’t have the white-picket-fence life.
