James Arthur completes his comeback by topping UK album chart after tour sells out in hours

The X Factor winner has managed to climb to the top spot with his amazing new album Back From the Edge

JAMES Arthur is OFFICIALLY the Comeback Kid - after bagging himself the number one spot on the album chart AND selling out his seventeen date UK tour.

The former X Factor winner has clawed his way back to the top spot after being dropped from SyCo records two years ago after failing to launch his music career off the back of the show.

Now, after patching things up with the record label and re-signing to SyCo, his latest album Back from the Edge has been officially announced as the new top record in the UK.

He said: "My mind is blown. I can't believe I'm in this position. I'm so humbled and so grateful to be here.

"This would not have been possible without the people that played some part in getting this album made and out there.

"And of course none of this would be possible without the support of my incredible fans. Thanks for believing in me."

On top of this, James's originally fourteen day tour had to be extended due to the speed it sold out and he also topped the streaming charts.

As he made his comeback the 28-year-old sadmitted that he had fought with ego that comes with stardom as well as dependency on marijuana and prescribed medication to combat depression when he originally found fame.

He told Dan Wootton in an exclusive interview: “I saw all these past X Factor winners and thought, ‘Why do they never do anything? I’ve got to make a stamp here. If I’m going to do this, I want to be great.’

“It manifested some way that with all the other sh*t I was doing, I ended up becoming a control freak and being bitter when I saw any negativity.

“I got into a lot of feuds with people. You can say I’m an ugly c***, but you can’t say I’m bad at music.

“So when I saw those things, for some reason I’d bite back at it.

“It’s weird looking back because I don’t need people’s validation.”

If the end of 2016 is anything to go by, 2017 will be a smash year for the singer, who also exclusively revealed to The Sun that he was also planning on cracking Hollywood as an actor to add to his string of achievements.

The determined star said: “I want to become a Hollywood film star. I genuinely would love to be in some movies. I am a massive film geek and I love movies.

“I have been through, and seen so many dramas and traumas, and been in so many situations that I can probably interpret a few different characters.

“I am even trying to remove some tattoos so I am not type-casted."

The Say You Won’t Let Go hitmaker – who won the X Factor in 2012 under the watchful eye of Nicole Scherzinger – is now backing 17-year-old contestant Sam Lavery to win this year’s series.

Speaking to The Sun Online at the Pride of Britain Awards in London, he said: “Sam Lavery is from the North East so I’m supporting her and Emily Middlemas.

“I’ve got a lot of family there so I throw my hat in those rings, they’re both really good. It’s a good show this year.”
