IS IT RUBBISH?

EastEnders viewers question if never-ending bin storyline is leading to dramatic climax

Fans seem frustrated by the whiffy plotlines

RUBBISH collection gripes have been at the heart of EastEnders for months - and fans are now questioning if the dirty plotline will lead to key characters being binned off.

Fans have taken to Twitter in their droves after Billy Mitchell and co bemoaned Walford Council's new fortnightly rota.

They branded the scenes "BinGate" and initially slammed producers and screenwriters, yet some have since started to believe there is a deeper meaning in the wheelie bin saga.

One wrote: "Surely this EastEnders bin stuff is building up to something, like a body being found in one at some point or something."

Another suggested: "This bin story is gonna be BIG. Giant killer rats hiding out in Arfur's shed go on rampage and take out Ronnie and Roxie," while another mused: "Everyone is moaning about the bin story in Eastenders. I think it's good. Reckon there's going to be a point why they keep mentioning it 2."

One went as far as to say it could be the major theme over the festive season and posted: "Is the bin storyline going to be the main Christmas storyline this year?"

A soap fan quipped: "This bin crack on EastEnders is getting out of hand like," while one typed: "After a break yesterday its back to bin wars on #eastenders.

"Here's hoping it doesn't drag on as long as who killed Lucy."

One was left clearly perplexed and wrote: "Anyone know what message @BBCOne are trying to convey on #Eastenders with all this bin talk? It's been weeks. What do you want to tell us?"

Last month, the rubbish-related storyline came to the fore when Billy Mitchell, played by Perry Fenwick, was seen dashing for work but was hampered on his journey after stepping in a pile of trash.

Then his wife Honey Mitchell, played by Emma Barton, was deep in discussion about the ongoing bin issue with Denise Fox and Jack Branning, who asked if the council have sorted it out yet.

She sighed and said: “There are bin bags all over the place. And the foxes have been at them. Litter everywhere.”

The drama began last month when Lauren Branning ranted to Whitney Dean: “I know this sounds really bad but sometimes I feel like this house is just full of dirty nappies and incontinence pads and stuffy rooms and bleach up my nose.

“Who knows what it’s going to be like when they’re only doing the bins every other week?”

The reference appeared to be a nod to recent bin collection changes in London from once a week to once a fortnight.
