What time does Conviction start on Sky Living tonight, who does Hayley Atwell play and what’s it all about?
The first season of the American legal drama premieres in the UK this evening
WE’RE used to seeing her as Marvel’s Agent Peggy Carter but tonight Hayley Atwell returns to our screens in a somewhat different role.
The British actress stars in Conviction, a brand new legal drama from ABC, that finally heads to our shores after premiering in the US last month.
But what’s it all about, who is Atwell’s character and what time should you be tuning in?
What time does it start?
The first episode airs tonight on Sky Living at 9pm. For those who can’t wait, the pilot episode is available on the On Demand service.
Who does Hayley Atwell play and what’s it all about?
The British actress stars as lawyer and First Daughter Hayes Morrison who is arrested for cocaine possession and whose mother is currently running fior Senate.
She is blackmailed by former adversary, New York District Attorney Wayne Wallis who will help her avoid jail – and hurting her mother’s campaign - as long as she to head his new Conviction Integrity Unit.
The new department consists on lawyers, detective and forensic experts who re-examine cases where there is credible suspicion of wrongful conviction.
Who else is in it?
Eddie Cahill stars as Conner Wallace, the district attorney who founded the Conviction Integrity Unit. Eagle-eyed Friends fans will recognise him as Rachel’s younger boyfriend Tag Jones. He also starred as bisexual Sean in Sex and the City and Detective Don Flack in CSI: NY.
Shawn Ashmore stars as Sam Spencer, an Assistant District Attorney who was originally selected to head the CIU and is not happy about being demoted for Hayes. Shawn is best known for his role as Bobby Drake/Iceman in the X-Men films.
Emily Kinney stars as the Conviction Integrity Unit’s paralegal Tess Larson. Until recently she starred as Beth Greene on The Walking Dead.
Anything else we should know about the show?
The pilot was filmed in March in Toronto, Canada, where the rest of the series was filmed, even though the show is set in New York.
As producers were casting the pilot episode, the main character’s name was reported as "Carter Morrison", which could have been a reference to Atwell's former role in Marvel's Agent Carter.
