Who is Terry Hall’s wife Lindy Heymann?

FRIENDS, family and fans of Terry Hall are mourning his sad death.

The Specials frontman leaves behind his grieving wife Lindy Heymann, after passing away aged 63.

Who is Lindy Heymann?

Terry Hall was married twice during his life time, with his second wife being Lindy Heymann.

She is an award-winning British director.

Lindy studied at Central St Martins, and after graduating with a BA in fine art film, she went on to pursue a career directing music videos.

In 2002 she won a British Independent Film Award (BIFA) for Best Directorial Debut for her feature film debut Showboy, and is also known for The Laughing King (2016), and Kicks (2009). 

Lindy has also directed episodes of Netflix hit Stay Close, starring James Nesbitt and Cush Jumbo, as well as TV series The Worst Witch.

When did Lindy meet Terry Hall?

They originally met when Lindy directed the video for Terry's 1997 single Ballad Of A Landlord.

However, it is reported they didn't get together as a couple until years later - although an exact date isn't known.

It also isn't known when they got married.

Meanwhile, his first wife was Jeanette Hall, who was his childhood sweetheart.

They were together for over 20 years, before divorcing in the mid-nineties.

Do Lindy and Terry have children?

The couple had one child together, a son called Orson, who was reportedly born in 2014.

Terry had two more children though, with his first wife Jeanette.

He had two sons - Leo and Felix - with her, which means he had three kids during his life.

When did Terry Hall die?

Terry sadly passed away on December 19, 2022, at the age of 63 following a "brief illness".

The Specials tweeted: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing, following a brief illness, of Terry, our beautiful friend, brother and one of the most brilliant singers, songwriters and lyricists this country has ever produced.

"Terry was a wonderful husband and father and one of the kindest, funniest, and most genuine of souls.

"His music and his performances encapsulated the very essence of life… the joy, the pain, the humour, the fight for justice, but mostly the love.

"He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him and leaves behind the gift of his remarkable music and profound humanity."
