Who is Meghan Markle? Everything you need to know about Prince Harry’s girlfriend
PRINCE Harry is said to be 'besotted' with her, after the pair met in May.
Kensington Palace confirmed Suits actress Meghan Markle is his girlfriend with a statement saying he is worried for her safety.
With their relationship going strong, Harry and Meghan were pictured together for the first time enjoying a trip to the theatre in London.
They are said to have been set up by their mutual friend Markus Anderson after crossing paths in Toronto, there the prince was promoting the Invictus Games.
Harry and Meghan have been conducting a trans-Atlantic romance, so here is everything you need to know about the brunette star.
Where is she from?
The 35-year-old star was born and raised in California, but she now lives in Toronto because that's where Suits is filmed.
When she was little Meghan spent a lot of time on the set of US TV show Married... with Children because her dad was a photography director on it.
She was discovered at a party and worked as a freelance calligrapher on the side when her career was starting. That might not sound too exciting, but she had some pretty big clients.
"What it evolved into was my pseudo-waitressing job when I was auditioning," she previously explained.
"I didn't wait tables. I did calligraphy for the invitations for, like, Robin Thicke and Paula Patton's wedding."
She also wrote letters for fashion designers Dolce & Gabbana.
What is she known for?
Meghan is an actress whose biggest role is in the US TV show Suits, where she plays Rachel Zane.
She seems to be keen on a legal drama, as she's also starred as an FBI special agent called Amy Jessup in sci-fi thriller Fringe.
Meghan's also had parts in CSI: Miami and appeared in some TV movies.
Does she do other work?
Meghan is committed to charity like, much like Prince Harry.
She is the Global Ambassador for World Vision Canada and has been to Rwanda to promote the organisation's Clean Water Campaign.
She has also visited Afghanistan to support US forces and their families.
In 2014 she was involved in a UN campaign for gender equality and has also worked as a model - she was one of the women who held the briefcases on the US version of Deal or No Deal in 2006.
In case you're interested, she was all about case number 24.
Meghan Markle has travelled the world doing charity work
The star also has her own lifestyle website called The, which is all about travel, decor, food and self-image.
Meghan is clearly a woman of many talents, as she writes everything on the site herself.
Film
She has reportedly taken on a bigger role in the film, directed by Amy Winehouse’s former fiance Reg Traviss, as it’s now set to be re-released.
The “special edition” features the brunette beauty in a range of tiny outfits as she features in almost every scene of the new trailer.
While she barely appeared in the first one, she appears to have a bigger role this time round.
The 35-year-old plays US fashion model Kirsten in the thriller, who gets dragged into a criminal underworld when she falls in love with London street artist Dee, played by Greg Sulkin.
The film aired on 40 screens in 2015, but director Reg wanted to “delve deeper into one of the storylines with.. a shorter, more compact version of the original”.
The story is based on three smash-and-grab raids in London - the Graff’s Diamond robbery in 2009, the Selfridges Burka robbery in 2013 and the Brent-Cross smash and grab robbery in 2012.
What about her love life?
Meghan began dating Trevor Engelson, who has a production company, in 2004 and the pair married on September 10, 2011.
They exchanged vows in Jamaica, but went their separate ways in 2013.
Pals of the couple said that they split after Meghan developed a "close friendship" with Canadian ice hockey star, Michael Del Zotto, 26.
Meghan's chatted about what she likes in a guy in the past, revealing she dislikes anyone who is "catty" and loves it when a man makes an effort to impress.
"If the guy is going to write a girl a letter, whether it looks like a doctor’s note, if he takes time to put pen to paper and not type something, there’s something so romantic and beautiful about that," she said.
She has already made some low-key visits to the UK to visit Harry, and she's even met his brother Prince William and his wife the Duchess of Cambridge.
Speculation about their relationship increased when Meghan shared a snap on Instagram of her wearing an extremely similar bracelet to Harry's.
The blue beaded bracelet bears a striking resemblance to one he is believed to have picked up on one of his visits to Africa.
Any hobbies?
Meghan's life is pretty jam-packed already, but she does have time for a few hobbies.
She's been into yoga for most of her life, thanks to her mum.
"My mum is a yoga instructor, and I started doing mommy-and-me yoga with her when I was seven," she told Best Health Magazine.
"In college, I started doing it more regularly."
She's also very into food and loves to cook.
Meghan adores her cute rescue dogs, Guy and Bogart, which gives her something to talk about with fellow dog lover, The Queen, should they ever meet.
