Who is Asake?

IT'S FAIR to say 2022 has seen Asake's meteoric rise to fame.

But there is still a lot to learn about the Nigerian singer, who has been named Audiomack’s 2022 Artiste of the year.

Born Ahmed Ololade on January 13, 1995 in Nigeria, Asake is an Afrobeats singer and songwriter.

He is signed to YBNL Nation and Empire Distribution.

The star's stage name pays homage to his mother, whose first name is Asake.

He studied Theatre & Performing Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state.

Although, he had been releasing music since 2018, his musical career progressed further in 2020 when Asake released the single Mr. Money.

But the singer rose to stardom after being signed to YBNL Records by the label boss, Olamide Badoo, in February 2022.

Asake also signed a distribution deal with Empire in July 2022.

In December 2022 Asake won Audiomack’s 2022 Artiste of the year.

In February 2022, Asake released his debut extended play Ololade, which featured his breakthrough song Omo Ope.

But his biggest single to date has to be Sungba, which was also remixed with a verse from fellow Nigerian artist Burna Boy.

Asake released his debut studio album Mr. Money With the Vibe in September, 2022.

The album was supported by the hit singles, Terminator, Peace Be Unto You, and also Sungba,

The album received high praise from fans in his home country of Nigeria, as well as across the world and went on to break several records globally.
