EastEnders’ Dot Cotton leaves fans in hysterics as she has epic meltdown over rock band Green Day

EASTENDERS legend Dot Branning had viewers in stitches Thursday night as she had a meltdown over rock band Green Day.

The pensioner is seen entering her kitchen followed by her late hubby's best pal, Patrick Truman — who is shocked to hear the US group's 2004 hit American Idiot blasting from a radio on the table.

"What on earth are you listening to?" he exclaims, and a distressed Dot tries frantically to turn the device off, explaining that she'd won it in a raffle and didn't understand how to work it.

Fans were in hysterics over the character's meltdown, taking to Twitter to post reactions to the scene.

"DOT LISTENING TO GREEN DAY IM DEAD," wrote one, while another joked: "Dot Cotton listening to Green Day on Eastenders. She'll be sniffing glue next, rebel."

Another tweeted: "HA HA HA ....Hilarious.... Dot Cotton rocking it to @UKAmericanIdiot...LOVE IT!!!!"
