Acid attack victim Katie Piper brands Halloween trauma make-up ‘distasteful and offensive’ in passionate message
The star, 33, was permanently scarred by a horrific acid attack in 2008 - but she's since spoken out to support other victims
KATIE Piper has branded Halloween make-up "distasteful and offensive" after seeing fellow stars and fans painting themselves with fake injuries.
The 33-year-old model and TV presenter was permanently scarred in 2008 when her ex-boyfriend Daniel Lynch hired someone to throw acid on her face in a horrific attack.
She has since spent long stints in hospital having reconstructive surgery, and is still forced to have procedures now - almost 10 years on.
Having seen endless photos of make-up artists, fans and stars experimenting with gory make-up and fake scars online, Katie has hit out in a lengthy and passionate message on Instagram.
She posted an image with the words: "It's not even Halloween and I've already had over 20 photos on my feed of make-up artists posting their Halloween gore makeovers.
"It's distasteful and offensive to make temporary burns, scars and disfigurements on someone's face for Halloween. Some of us have these differences all year round. When did Halloween turn into people imitating accident victims?"
She added alongside it: "I enjoy Halloween just as much as the next person but please don't dress up as someone that has had trauma happen to them.

"Even if you don't care about other people's feelings how about remembering none of us are immune and it could be you one day with these injuries, no Halloween makeup needed.
"Pumpkins, witches, cats, bats, whatever but not someone who has been seriously injured please."
It comes after Towie's Amber Dowding apologised to fans after her Halloween costume sparked outrage on social media.
The stunner, 23, took to Instagram to share a sneak peek of her costume Wednesday as she prepared to film the reality show’s Halloween special in Thorpe Park.
But Instagram users took to the comments section in droves to slam the photograph.
Amber eventually replied in the comments: “I am sorry if I have upset anyone. As you will see in my next picture I am a prisoner and they are cuts from the handcuffs.”
