Towie star Amber Dowding for ‘slit wrists’ Halloween make-up — revealing it was part of a prisoner costume
Fans lash out over 'insensitive' Instagram post as reality show films Halloween special
AMBER Dowding has apologised to fans after her Halloween costume sparked outrage on social media.
The Towie babe, 23, took to Instagram to share a sneak peek of her costume Wednesday as she prepared to film the reality show's Halloween special in Thorpe Park.
She posted a close-up of herself wearing special-effects make-up — including gory fake wounds on each wrist.
The look was part of a prisoner outfit, with bloody "cuts" from the handcuffs, but the rest of her costume wasn't visible, and fans mistook the feigned injuries for self-harm.
Instagram users took to the comments section in droves to slam the photograph, with one writing: "When you've lost someone that's taken their own life this sort of thing is not right," while another said: "Mental illness isn't a Halloweeen costume... very insensitive of you."
Other fans added: "It's disgusting that this is being used as a 'costume'," and "This is absolutely disrespectful and hurtful."
"Makes me very sad to see, vanity over heart," wrote someone else.
"Slit wrists bit insensitive considering it's just been mental health week," said another.

Amber eventually replied in the comments: "I am sorry if I have upset anyone. As you will see in my next picture I am a prisoner and they are cuts from the handcuffs."
Sure enough, the next photo she posted showed the reality babe's full costume, featuring a black and white striped dress and a pair of handcuffs.
"GUILTY," Amber captioned the snap.
