X Factor boyband 5 After Midnight ‘sick of being compared to JLS’

The boys want to be known for themselves and not past contestants

X FACTOR boyband 5 After Midnight DO NOT want to be compared to former contestants JLS.

A source close to the band has told The Sun Online that they “hate” any comparison to the guys.

JLS went on to be a worldwide smash but split in 2013, with lead singer Aston Merrygold going onto be a solo artist.

But their success doesn’t matter to 5 After Midnight, who don’t want to be known as the “next JLS”.

Our source told us: "The boys are really getting bored of people comparing them to JLS, they don't see it as a compliment at all.

"They won't publicly slate JLS as they know a lot of their fans will be former JLS fans, but privately they absolutely hate it"

They added: "Kieran finds it the most insulting, he thinks JLS were very cheesy and were overly manufactured, he get visibly stressed and annoyed by it"

Our source continued: "I kind of understand what the guys mean as they really put a lot of effort into their group, they don't want to be puppets and are very creative - but to have the success that JLS had would be great for them.

"Kieran just wants people to appreciate the effort they are putting in, but a lot of people don't see that that - they just think the show has guided them in every area.

“It's fair to say all three of them want to try and shake off the ‘next JLS’ tag they are being given as quickly as possible."

Meanwhile, the band’s Jordan Lee confessed earlier this month to breaking down in tears backstage due to the pressure of the show.

The 23-year-old singer, whose band mate Kieran Alleyne is currently expecting his first child with his girlfriend, opened up about his homesickness during an interview with The Sun Online.

Jordan said: “I’ve been crying loads about being away from home.

“Everyone in your area is depending on you, I try to enjoy myself – but we’re all human, right?”

Jordan added: “It’s been hard to nail things but we want to be on the ball on Saturday… it’s tough.

“Finding the cameras and the staging is hard but we’re getting there.”

After the band were rocked with the news Kieran is soon to become a father, a source close to them explained what this meant for their future exclusively to The Sun Online.

The insider said: “It’s a whole different game now that Kieran knows he’ll soon have a family to support.

“This news has just given him and the lads even more drive to win the The X Factor.”
