Little Mix give shout out to Superdrug on Instagram… but they’re posing in front of a Boots logo
The social media epic fail was deleted after racking up thousands of comments
LITTLE Mix committed the ultimate social media fail on Wednesday while posing in front of a Boots logo.
The chart topping group accidentally posted the picture while promoting a deal they have with beauty rival Superdrug.
The Instagram error quickly racked up thousands of comments before being removed.
Little Mix captioned the picture: “Tag @superdrugloves and tag your bestie telling us why they deserve to have their wishes come true to WIN! #LMWishmaker.”
The post included a direct link to Superdrug’s website.
Earlier this week the girl group, who are currently number one in the charts, slammed claims they’d “ripped off” G.R.L’s hit track Ugly Heart.
In an interview with Belgian radio station Qmusic, Jade Thirlwall said: “'We're actually friends with Emmalyn from GRL and she loves the song.
“Every song is going to have a similar chord sequence, slightly similar lyrics and melodies – it happens all the time. It doesn't mean that they're not both incredible songs.”
But the pretty singer then added: “I think maybe because it was a girl band as well, I just think people like to have something negative to say.”
Perrie Edwards then weighed in on the debate, and was not so shy with her opinion on the matter: 'I just think, stop trying to hop on the bandwagon.'
And Jesy Nelson echoed the sentiment, adding: “Stop trying to get publicity.”
Their post caused a stir on social media as fans compared the catchy choruses of both songs.
Although some fans branded G.R.L as “bitter,” many agreed with them calling Little Mix out.
G.R.L's track Ugly Heart charted at number 11 on the UK Top 40 in 2014.
The song, which has amassed over 50 million views on YouTube, peaked in the charts after former member Simone Battle committed suicide.
A statement from G.R.L founder Robin Antin said: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of GRL."
Before joining the American group, singer Simone had previously auditioned for X Factor USA.
Simon Cowell told her: “What I like about you is that you really are fearless. I think that you are ambitious, which I love. I think you’re going to work hard. I really, really like you.”
Twitter user Bullet5350 wrote: “Shout out to my ex clearly took inspiration from Ugly Heart.”
Sharing her views, tweeter SpiffyTiffy said: “Just realized how much the chorus of Shoutout to my Ex sounds like Ugly Heart.”
Another user added: “I listened to both Ugly Heart & Shoutout to my ex so I could annoy Kelly and say they sound a like, but they don't.”
