Who is Caitlin Stasey?

Caitlin is a 26-year-old Aussie actress. She was born in Melbourne and began acting at a young age.

Caitlin first shot to fame in 2003 when she got a part in children's show The Sleepover Club.

Two years later she landed the role of Rachel Kinski on Neighbours before leaving in 2009 and then played Kenna on American drama Reign.

She particularly campaigns for gender equality and feminism and last year launched a website, Herself.com, to promote female solidarity and at empower women in areas of sex, gender roles and body image.

The website features naked images of Caitlin herself and women of all body types, nationalities and orientations.

The site also serves as a space for women to talk about sex, relationships, feminism and much more.

She fiercely protests against gender inequality, slut shaming and rape culture, and she says: “Feminism is as simple as a woman choosing for herself and being able to do what she believes in. Feminism is nothing more than freedom.”

She has also spoken out about the under-representation of gay, lesbian and transgender characters in children's entertainment.

She also refuted claims that she was an "angry person", adding "People don’t rally in the streets to engage in happiness. People talk about things they’re unsatisfied with.”

Female empowerment and Caitlin's war with Instagram

Caitlin is embroiled in a battle with Instagram as she continually flouts the no nudity rule by posting naked images.

A friend of the star previously said: “She’s p***ed that Instagram keep deleting her shots.

“It’s because they have nudity in them. Every time they do it, she puts up a new one to replace it.”

She previously griped about social media censorship in a series of outraged posts on Twitter.

Caitlin wrote: "They have taken down several of my photos, they're just way slower 2 do so and don't notify anymore

"I've posted around half a dozen topless photos of the past month and [there is] only one still remaining...

Caitlin is also a proud supporter of the'Free The Nipple campaign - a protest against Instagram's 'no nipple policy' when it comes to women.

It has been claimed this is a sexist double-standard as photos of topless men are permitted under the social media website's community guidelines.

What about Caitlin's personal life?

The actress surprised many last year when she described herself as a lesbian despite having almost exclusively dated men.

She explained to fans: "I know it troubles people for me to refer to myself as a lesbian considering I have a male partner.

"I’ve known I was mostly gay ever since I can remember... I’m happier being fluid. I'm happier being honest."

She is currently in a self-described “somewhat open” relationship with Lucas Neff, an American actor.

She sent fans into a frenzy earlier this year after posting a picture of her and her beau celebrating in a garden.

She was wearing a white dress which lead fans to speculate that they had just got married, but she has not made a comment about the rumours.
