PETE Burns always knew he was going to die young according to his music producer pal Pete Waterman.
The Dead Or Alive frontman died suddenly of a cardiac arrest aged 57 on Sunday.
Former Pop Idol judge Pete worked with Dead Or Alive on their hit album Youthquake, which featured the hit single You Spin Me Round in 1985.
Speaking to , Pete said: “If you’re going to be cynical there’s one man who would have wanted to die young - and that was Pete Burns.
“He didn’t want to get old.
"We never wanted to see him go but I can’t imagine an old aged pensioner Pete Burns, or God help the surgeon.
“He would have been amazing if he got to old age.”
Pete, 69, stayed in touch with him and the pair saw each other for the last time last year.
He said: “It was a phone call if I wanted anything or he wanted anything.”
Dead Or Alive played alongside Kylie Minogue, 48, Jason Donovan, 48, and Sinitta, 53, at Pete Waterman’s Hit Factory Live in 2012 at London’s 02 Arena.

Pete, who appeared on Botched Up Bodies just weeks before he passed away, underwent 300 surgeries in the run-up to his tragic death.
However, the wife of the surgeon who fixed Pete Burns' botched plastic surgeries after he underwent procedures elsewhere, said she believed his smoking habit could have contributed to his untimely death.
Laura Ferrando, wife of Dr Giovanni Ferando, said: "Pete had a lot of problems because of his surgery.
“People were taking advantage of Pete for money and he would call my husband asking: ‘Please help me’.
“We are very sad and shocked about what happened. Pete had another reaction recently and in May, Giovanni operated on him.
“But it’s not surgery which killed him - he smoked a lot.”
While no funeral arrangements have been released, Pete added: “It’ll be some send-off, I can assure you. We’ve lost an amazing showman.”
Burns is survived by his ex wife of 25 years Lynne Corlett and his ex husband Michael Simpson - both of whom stood by him right until the very end.
