Who’s in the Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do The Time Warp Again, and when and where can I watch it in the UK?
The 2016 remake is coming to Sky Cinema this weekend
FANS OF the Rocky Horror Picture Show are in for a treat this Halloween, as a new version of the cult classic is hitting the small screen.
A remake of the 1975 classic is set to premiere on Sky Cinema this weekend - directed by Hocus Pocus director Kenny Ortega and featuring the likes of Laverne Cox and Game of Thrones actor Staz Nair.
What is Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do The Time Warp Again?
The Rocky Horror Show tells the story of a newly engaged couple who fall upon Dr. Frank-N-Furter's strange place of residence.
Frank-N-Furter, played by Laverne Cox, is a sexually-charged scientist who is holding an annual science convention to reveal the birth of Rocky Horror.
The Rocky Horror show initially started its journey as a musical paying tribute to science fiction films of the late 40s, starting in the West End, it subsequently toured in the UK multiple times, and is currently running its 2016 UK tour.
The 1975 film, written by Sharman and Richard O'Brien, gained a huge following. Audience members frequently dress up as the infamous characters when attending screenings.
Who's in the Rocky Horror Picture Show remake?
Tim Curry is the only original cast member to star in the remake. He takes on the role as The Criminologist, originally played by Charles Gray.
Subsequently, Curry's role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter has been passed on to transgender Laverne Cox.
Pop royalty and reality queen Christina Milian is the castle's dutiful maid Magenta, while Adam Lambert plays the ex-delivery boy.
What do the critics think?
The show aired the USA last week, and received mixed reviews.
said, "Laverne Cox makes her entrance as Frank-N-Furter… and the film’s momentum is stopped cold... but she’s glaringly miscast here. She doesn’t stand out from her misfit horde like Frank should. Her singing isn’t up to snuff with the rest of the cast. Her accent varies wildly..."
referred to 'solid performances' in the remake, but said the presentation was muddled and the decadence has been dialed down.
Ahead of the UK premiere, , "Sky Cinema is all about giving our viewers the very best experience, so to have a brand new production of a beloved classic before anybody else in the UK and Ireland is absolutely brilliant.
"It sums up the service perfectly. Plus who doesn't love doing The Time Warp?"
When and where can I watch it in the UK?
The Rocky Horror Picture Show has its UK and Ireland premiere on Friday 28 October on Sky Cinema, the service which has recently replaced Sky Movies.
