Carol Vorderman stuns fans as she reveals first TV appearance 40yrs ago today – and she looks younger now

CAROL Vorderman has left fans gobsmacked as she looked dramatically different in a throwback shot from her first TV appearance.

Fans were convinced the Countdown maths whizz, now 61, looks even younger than she did in the snap from a video spanning 40 years in showbiz.

A then brunette Carol  sported a cute crop in the shot she posted on Instagram.

The fresh-faced star looked sweet in the video taken exactly four decades ago to the day.

She played fans the video including several highlights from over the decades including starring on Strictly Come Dancing, hosting Pride of Britain, and her breakthrough job on Countdown.

Carol left a touching message for her followers.

She wrote: "On November 2nd 1982 I made my first TV appearance. On Countdown. Which was the first show on a new channel, yes Channel 4."

She added: "Happy birthday Channel 4 and Countdown… And happy TV birthday to me.

"So here’s a short slice of my 40 years. Hosting numerous prime time shows across all of our telly channels. Nearly 10,000 appearances altogether....I’m worn out just thinking about it 😂😂.

"It’s been a wonderful life. I’ve been lucky and grateful for all the laughing and the opportunities and interesting times with amazing people.
There are too many shows to include but you’ll get the idea!"
