Simon Cowell congratulates Little Mix as they storm to No. 1 with sassy hit Shout Out To My Ex
Their new hit marks The X Factor stars' fourth number one single
SIMON Cowell has told Little Mix he couldn’t “be more proud” after their new single Shout Out To My Ex stormed to number one in the charts.
The only group to ever win The X Factor have been hitting headlines this week over the cryptic lyrics about their past lovers in the track.
The anthem Shout Out To My Ex topped the singles chart after they notched up 95,000 combined sales.
This marks their fourth No 1 single after Cannonball, Move and Black Magic and their new track has even knocked fellow X Factor winner James Arthur’s say You Won’t Let Go off the top spot and down to number two.
Syco boss Simon took to Twitter to congratulate the girls on their amazing achievement.
He wrote: “I could not be more proud of @LittleMix reaching No.1. Huge congratulations girls. And as always thank you to the fans.”
Little Mix’s chart triumph means they are only the third UK artist to have a number one in the charts this year after James Arthur and Perrie Edwards’s ex-fiance Zayn Malik.
Speaking about topping the charts the girls said: “Wow! We can’t believe that after only four days of sales we’ve managed to get to No.1! We can’t thank our fans enough! We’re over the moon! Our 4th No.1!
They added: “Everyone can relate to this song. Everyone’s had an ex or a bad relationship and this is a big positive break up anthem.”
She said: “I’ve seen a lot worse. No one does this when Beyonce comes out half-naked.”
Given the subject of their new song, Perrie has been grilled about her relationship with former One Direction star Zayn Malik and confirmed he ended their engagement by text.
She also confirmed the ‘diss song’ is about him adding: “the song speaks for itself”.
The girls have also been having some fun as they promote their new track with Jesy revealing one of Perrie’s most embarrassing secrets live on This Morning.
