Ofcom reviewing Coronation Street’s ‘unacceptable language’ as 20 outraged viewers complain

Viewers were unhappy after David Platt screamed the word 'b*****d'

OUTRAGED Coronation Street fans have complained to Ofcom after character David Platt screamed the word “b*****d” before the 9PM watershed during Wednesday’s episode of the ITV soap.

His unexpected outburst has so far sparked 20 individual complaints which the government-approved broadcast regulators will now assess.

A spokesperson for Ofcom exclusively tells The Sun Online: “We will assess these complaints, before deciding whether to investigate or not.”

The character, played by Jack P. Shepherd, was locked in the Bistro cellar by mother Gail after he threatened to murder his wife Kylie’s killer.

As he screamed: “Let me out of here so I can kill the b*****d!” fans across the nation gasped – and then took to social media.

One outraged mother fumed: “#CoronationStreet i have my ten yo asking me what a b*****d is why was this language used before the 9pm watershed #raging #unacceptable”

Another viewer blasted: “Omg #CoronationStreet gonna be in trouble David shouting let me out so i can kill the B******d !!! at 7;50pm.”

A third fan added: “B*****d before 9pm? Tut tut Corrie!”

During Wednesday’s episode, fans watched as David pleaded with Gail to release him from the cellar.

After unsuccessfully trying to tunnel his way out through the sewer – and being confronted by rats – David was apparently left with no other option.

Opening up to Gail, David revealed the horrifying truth that he would rather be dead than alive with Kylie’s murderer.
