Cheryl’s divorce papers revealed as she finally ends her 18-month marriage to Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini
The marriage is now officially over after a London court granted a Decree Nisi this morning
CHERYL is now finally free to start a new life with boyfriend Liam Payne after her divorce from Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini was given the green light this morning.
They were issued a Decree Nisi at a London court today to bring their 18-month marriage to an end, and her divorce papers have now been made public.
Neither Cheryl, 33, or JB, 35, attended attended the hearing at the capital's Central Family Court, which gave them the go ahead to dissolve the marriage.
The hearing last just 14 seconds, making it 'Britain's fastest quickie divorce'.
A spokesperson for the singer confirmed the news, explaining: "Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini have today obtained Decree Nisi in their divorce proceedings.
"No further comment will be made and they ask for their privacy to be respected."
The paperwork means the union will be officially over in six weeks when the Decree Absolute is issued.
The divorce news leaves Cheryl free to pursue a new life with her boyfriend Liam Payne, 23.
JB appeared to be out celebrating the divorce news last night as he was pictured looking worse for wear following a restaurant launch in London.
He was snapped slumped in a taxi as he made his way home following the heavy night out.
He previously hinted the divorce news was imminent in a cryptic social media post.
The news will come as a major relief to the new couple, who are facing increased speculation that they are expecting their first child together.
Cheryl has been seen sporting a fuller figure in recent weeks, and she has done little to dispel the growing baby rumours.
Fans were sent into a frenzy this week as a congratulations message began circulating on Twitter.
The message was in reference to Liam's new solo record deal in the US, but many followers assumed the singer had confirmed the pregnancy.
The pair went public with their romance in May after reportedly striking up their relationship at the beginning of the year.
Fans are now speculating they will take their relationship to the next level by tying the knot.
Cheryl and Liam first met when the young singer was a contestant on The X Factor in 2008 while she was working as a judge.
Liam was just 14 at the time, and he went on to become a hugely successful pop sensation in his own right after being picked as a member of the talent show's star act, One Direction.
