The Great British Bake Off fans left devastated as show heartthrob Selasi Gbormittah is sent home
The fan favourite struggled in the patisserie week and missed out on a place in the final
THE Great British Bake Off fans have been left devastated after their favourite Selasi Gbormittah missed out on the chance to go through to next week’s final.
Outraged that he was voted out at the end of tonight’s semi-final, they took to Twitter to share their upset and disappointment.
One wrote: “I think the nation is crying that Selasi has gone,” while another added: “Actual real tears at Selasi going.”
One sobbed, “Goodbye sweet prince,” while another wrote: “Broken my heart that Selasi is going home.”
The memes also flooded in, mostly clips of people in tears or with their head in their hands.
Valerie Stones, who was voted off the show in week five, said he was "magnificent".
She added: "Such a gentle human being, I would have been proud to have have you as my son.
"Sels, thank you for always carrying my baking bags. Thank you to all the bakers for carrying stuff for me."
However, some suspected the fan favourite might be in trouble before the result was announced, as he struggled with his patisserie showstopper.
One wrote: “I fear for Selasi in my bones,” while another added: “Selasi has had a disaster this week.”
But Selasi, who became a huge hit with viewers because of his laidback attitude, proved to be a gracious loser.
Speaking about his exit last night, Selasi said: “I was almost at the last hurdle, and then I dropped the ball. I can’t blame anyone else but myself, I was sorry to be going but also accepted it at the same time.
