Furious Bake Off fans insist wrong contestant was sent home – saying controversial contestant should have gone instead
GREAT British Bake Off viewers insist the wrong contestant was eliminated last night.
The judges were underwhelmed by the majority of Dessert Week creations and ultimately Carole Edwards paid the price.
While fans of the show admitted Carole had been like a cat with nine lives, they still thought IT manager Dawn should have been the one to bite the bullet.
One wrote on Twitter: “Can’t believe Dawn wasn’t voted off there. #GBBO.”
Another posted: “So upset Dawn is still there. So upset! #GBBO.”
A third said: “Nah, can’t believe it! Dawn still hasn’t gone! She got more lives than a cat. #GBBO.”

Another exclaimed “How’s Dawn still in ffs, farce. #GBBO.”
Dawn was sad to see supermarket cashier Carole from Dorset go home after striking up a strong bond. She consoled her friend with a hug after the result was revealed.
There were some highlights in the challenging episode too. Sandro was named Star Baker following a technical challenge in which the hopefuls had to bake a lemon meringue pie.
Meanwhile ‘Compost Carole’ has now revealed the secrets she told her family and friends to explain her disappearance while filming.
She said: “I told my work colleagues I was on Jury service … then I changed it to say I was on the Johnny Depp trial!”
Speaking about her exit, Carole said: “It’s my time to go. I am very proud of myself I came here to achieve something as I get older.
“Even to get through and walk through the tent – that is an achievement in itself. And those bakers – what a great bunch of people!”
Carole went on: “I always felt each week was going to be my last, but I knew on Dessert Week my time was up.
“I didn’t dream in a million years that I would get to the halfway mark, so in my mind it’s a celebration rather than a downer. I always like to look on the bright side, it’s in my nature, and you have to remind yourself it’s only pudding rather than just desserts!”
