Jamie on the Big Screen
I’m always gobsmacked at how many amazing films seem to be constantly coming out – as autumn brings those dark nights back, the cinema is looking very inviting indeed.
Let’s start with The Magnificent Seven. After the disastrous remake of Ben-Hur, you’d be right to be nervous of people dusting off the classics – but with this, I think we’re in safer hands.
The cast, headed up by Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt, give it just the right amount of oomph.
Think Young Guns for us not-so-young guns!
If you fancy veering off the path a little, may I suggest Swiss Army Man? Daniel Radcliffe plays a bloated, flatulent corpse buddy to Paul Dano.
It’s a wonderfully odd story.
Paul Dano is incredible, but Radcliffe is the big surprise.
If you like a bit of quirk, this is the movie for you.
Finally, Ron Howard has tackled The Beatles.
Not literally, that would be ugly, but Eight Days A Week is an authorised documentary focusing on the band’s brief touring days.
From the Hamburg clubs through to Shea Stadium, it includes some tantalising glimpses of the best band ever.
