Mark Wright and Strictly’s Tyler West lead celebs running the London Marathon as 40,000 hit the streets

FAMOUS faces took to the streets of the nation’s capital as they ran the London Marathon among 40,000 runners.

Celebs including Mark Wright, , James Cracknell and McFly’s Harry Judd were among those pounding the pavements.

Sophie looked emotional as she crossed the finish line

BBC broadcaster Sophie Raworth also put her best foot forward and appeared emotional as she reached the finish line of the 26.2 mile course.

The hordes of runners were set on their way at the starting line by England Lionesses Leah Williamson, Ellen White and Jill Scott.

Hours later, Love Island winner Greg O’Shea gave a thumbs up as he held his medal aloft.

Green Wing star Stephen Mangan was running too, as was Virgin Radio DJ Chris Evans.

Towie star Mark was cheered on by his adoring wife Michelle, as well as his mum Carol.

Mark, who was forced to pull out of last year’s race with a calf injury, planted a kiss on top of Michelle’s head after completing the gruelling course.

The celebs ran alongside serious runners, as well as those who were fundraising in fancy dress.

Among the colourful costumes on display were giant sunflowers, Minions and even Big Ben’s Elizabeth Tower.

Ahead of the race, Strictly’s Tyler explained why he was determined to complete the race despite his gruelling schedule.

He told the BBC: “I committed to it earlier on in the year and I’m never going to let people down.”

He was cheered on by his dance parnter Dianne Buswell, who gave him a big hug at the end.

He said: “Dianne will be looking after me anyway, making sure I don’t push myself too far.”

Another celebrity supporter on the sidelines was heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua, who was pictured raising a glass of water beside a competitor mid race.
