ACTRESS Anna Friel has been ordered to alter a new extension to her £1million home — or see it torn down.

Permission for the £100,000 build, backing on to the Queen’s back yard near Windsor Castle, was given two years ago.

But Limitless star Anna, 40, was handed a listed building enforcement notice after officials ruled the work was not carried out in line with plans.

Now planning chiefs in the Berkshire town say it must be changed to match the original blueprints within three months or face the bulldozer.

Work on the Grade II Listed Georgian townhouse, bought by Anna in 2013, included new windows and doors.

But after a complaint enforcement officials said materials used were not appropriate for the upmarket area.

Cllr Phil Bicknell said: “It’s a sad state of affairs. The owner is an upstanding person in the community and I have sympathy for her.

“I think it must go as a warning to people employing contractors that they need to get a recommendation from people they know. We have no choice but to do this, or it sends the wrong message.”

Anna has been given a “remedy or remove” period to complete the alterations.

She said: “I want to apologise. I take their demands incredibly seriously and want to reassure the necessary authorities that any final cosmetic requirements will be done within the remedy period.”
