Kate Garraway shares ‘proud mum moment’ over 13 year old son Bill’s remarkable gesture following the Queen’s death
KATE Garraway was full of pride today over her son Bill’s remarkable gesture following Queen Elizabeth II’s death.
The TV host shared the story on Good Morning Britain while reporting on Her Majesty's passing from outside Buckingham Palace.
Kate, 55, said: "I just found out actually a few minutes ago that my son Bill today went to school all dressed in black.
"I didn't even know he had taken in what had happened yet there he is, 13 years old, completely on his own, felt moved to do that."
She also spoke about her own reaction to the Queen's passing and the public feeling outside the Palace.
Kate said: "The atmosphere here has been one of we all knew this would happen but didn't want it to. Flowers are being laid.

"I'm lucky enough I pass these gates every day on the way to work. There's always tourists here and there is always a secret feeling: 'I wonder if we will see the Queen'.
"People are already responding saying I can't believe we won't see her again."
Ed Balls was earlier left close to tears as he recalled the "special moment" he met the Queen years before her death.
The former politician explained it had not been protocol for the monarch to meet ministers after they left her service and he was moved by the remarkable gesture.
Choking up, the former politician said: "For the first time I saw what all of those 15 prime ministers valued. The wisdom, the interest and the care.
"She was a person, and I think this was a conscious choice for her, who always made every person she met feel special.
"I walked out that day and I bought an ice cream, I sat in St James's park, and I thought, 'I’m the only person here who has met the Queen'."
Presenters on GMB wore black today as the country entered 10 days of national mourning.
Susanna Reid paid tribute as she opened the Good Morning Britain special alongside Ben Shephard in the studio.
She said: "She had sparkling eyes, even at the beginning of the week. We knew this moment was coming and yet it is a shock.
" She had the longest reign of any monarch. She was the constant presence in all of our lives.
"She was dignified, dutiful, devoted to her family and to the Commonwealth. She gave a life of service.

"I reflected yesterday, we knew she couldn't be immortal and yet we hoped she would be. It is quite a moment."
ITV pulled their original schedule for the show and there were no breaks or adverts to make it a special in honour to Her Majesty.
