WHO'S THE DADDY

Russell Brand gushes about becoming a first-time dad with former partner-in-crime on Jonathan Ross Show

It seems the pair have hung up their trouble-making hats for good as lothario Russell settles down to a 'country life'

RUSSELL Brand has seemingly turned away from his Shagger of the Year roots and is settling down to become a country-life dad.

The 41-year-old comedian and activist appears on the Jonathan Ross Show this weekend and discusses with his former partner-in-crime the new changes in his life - including proposing to his girlfriend and preparing to become a father.

Russell confirmed he was going to become a dad by posting an Instagram snap of him holding the Expectant Father's handbook.

He told Jonathan:  “I read a different book every week and I read one on preparation for fatherhood to mentally prepare me for it.

I don’t know that it has prepared me for it. I’ve painted the room, I’ve done the things that you’re supposed to do, I’ve accepted the idea that that person will be more important than me.

"‘Jesus Three’ I’m thinking of calling him or her. We don’t know the gender I may not even ever impose a gender upon it, let the child grow up and be the whatever the hell it is, never tell it there is such a concept.”

He also arranged a party to get engaged to his girlfriend Laura Gallacher - sister of TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher - in the summer.

On the proposal, Russell revealed: "I cried at my own beauty. You know when you think ‘I’m being so nice now, Oh God I think I’m going to cry’ because you’re impressed with how nice you are…

"I properly planned it and put proper ideas into it and made it all nice and did like a surprise party for her and her mum helped me to organise it, get her on side!"

This week on the Jonathan Ross show, the TV host will also talk with returning duo Bros, comedian and QI presenter Alan Davies, and actress and writer Sharon Horgan.

The Sun exclusively revealed that 80s duo Bros were reforming for a series of concerts in one of pop's hottest ever comebacks.

Speaking with Dan Wootton, the When Will I be Famous singers confessed their mother's battle with cancer reunited the pair after year's of avoiding each other.

During their first interview together in 27 years, Matt confessed: "We lost our mother. That took a great toll on both me and my brother.

"That is the day you truly become men.

“What it has done is made us very deeply realise that we are such a family.

"You mess with my brother, you mess with me. We’re proper double trouble.

“It’s a beautiful thing to have each other’s back in the way we do. And that intensity will make its way on stage too.”

Luke added: “We have a very small family so when you lose people you love — sister, our mother, grandfathers who raised us with our mother — you start to put great value on it.

"Family has become a priority now.”

Catch the Jonathan Ross show, Saturday at 10pm on ITV.
