Inside Gogglebox star Bez’s bonkers Games of Thrones-inspired wedding – and the reason close pal Shaun Ryder was missing
THE world may be going mad — but nothing could stop Happy Mondays’ legend Bez throwing a bonkers wedding.
He twisted the melons of his wedding guests with a pagan ritual inspired by Game Of Thrones, a traditional church ceremony and a free all-day bar.
The maracas-shaker said “I do” to his girlfriend Firouzeh Razavi, who is 19 years his junior, dressed as what he described as “some motherf*****g pimp” in a white top hat and suit.
Mondays’ backing singer Rowetta, 56, sang at the reception and treated guests to her best woman’s speech, while Leeroy Thornhill, 53 from rave icons the Prodigy was among the guests.
Bez — well-known for his drug-fuelled past — has given Sun readers a glimpse into his unique big day with these exclusive pictures of the celebrations, which he has called the “party of a lifetime”.
The do wouldn’t look out of place in glossy mag Hello! — but this wasn’t a contrived, celeb-filled event made for the cameras.

In a chat at the Hertfordshire country estate where the do was held, the 58-year-old Gogglebox star said: “I didn’t have to write my vows or give a speech, but my message would have been, ‘Drink and be merry’.”
Bez and Firouzeh — known as Frou — were dressed all in white as they wed at a local church.
The couple left in a Victorian-style carriage with feathers attached to the horses as the couple sipped from flutes of champagne.
Later on, they jumped over a stick in a recreation of a pagan wedding ritual.
Inspired by the Game Of Thrones wedding of Robb Stark and Talisa Maegyr, they had originally planned to have their hands bound together like the fictional couple under a wooden “Stonehenge” that Bez had carved himself.
The bride’s father is Persian, so the couple exchanged bowls of honey — which came from bees that Bez keeps at a country house outside Manchester — in keeping with a Persian custom.
Frou, 39, said: “We’re not really religious, but we have our beliefs.
“There is a higher power, and whatever that higher power is, it’s different for everyone.”
Guests enjoyed a dizzying range of cocktails, watermelon and pineapple salads, and meats slow-cooked over an open fire for seven hours.
They were entertained by The Trojans — a group headed by British blues pioneer John Mayall’s son Gaz.
And Frou sang what she called a “really cheesy” song called My Happiness that she wrote for her husband.
Bez said: “Frou’s song was great and the whole day was great.
“And I wasn’t worried about Rowetta’s speech — she knew she could say whatever she wanted. It was a great laugh.”
“I still love a good party and I put a lot of effort into organising this wedding with her.
“My suit was made for me by a friend and it looked cool as f**k. I looked like some mother******g pimp.
“It looks the part with the top hat. It looked really cool, but modern as well.”
My suit was made for me by mate and it looked cool as f**k – like some motherf*****g pimp.

Frou, who insists Bez’s days as a wildman are over, said: “This wedding was the biggest party we’ve ever put on.
“We still have fun and he might have been a really big party person in the past, but that was then. Nothing from his Happy Mondays days can shock me now. I’m sure he’s got a lot of stories that he’s not told me and I can imagine what’s happened.
“He’ll tell me the odd thing, like when he went to the Rock In Rio festival and they were in a hotel with Guns ‘N’ Roses, and they ended up being crazier than Guns ‘N’ Roses. I can imagine.
“We drink at a party, and Bez likes to enjoy himself still. We love a bottle of tequila and we love margheritas, so that’s how we roll.
She says Bez’s “charisma and happiness” are his most attractive features.
As for the couple’s difference in age, Frou says she never thinks about it.
She revealed: “It’s only a 19-year age gap. Age is just a number, isn’t it? No one has ever mentioned it.
“For some reason, I’ve always gone for older guys, it’s just something in me.
“When I was at school I fancied the teacher — I was obsessed with him.
“I don’t even see Bez as much older than me. It never comes into my mind.
“He’s young at heart, and I must be old at heart.”
The couple met ten years ago when they were out with mutual pals for drinks in Manchester.
I still love a good party and I put a lot of effort into organising this wedding with her.
Bez
Frou said they went to a gig together a couple of weeks later and ended up “running off” from the show together to head home.
They moved in together shortly afterwards as they had become inseparable.
Shortly after signing up to Dancing On Ice in October, Bez proposed to Frou on top of a mountain in front of friends and family in snaps posted on social media.
Bez admits: “It wasn’t love at first sight, because I was trying to be a typical male, just wanting to get my end away, and then the love came with it.
“She played hard to get, which probably also helped her as well. We have a great relationship and we both look after each other, and it’s great.
“She’s a really loving woman and she takes amazing good care of herself and me.
“I couldn’t imagine life without her.”
Former personal trainer Frou, who drives Bez when he is on the road with the Mondays, reckons she has inspired her new husband to get healthy.
And Bez reckons he has to stay in shape to “keep up” with Frou in the bedroom.
He has joked in the past that he is in a “sexless marriage” with Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder, 60 — but his old pal had to send a video message as could not make the wedding due to work commitments.
Bez — real name Mark Berry — has sons Arlo, 30, Jack, 28, and Leo, 13, from previous relationships.
He has previously ruled out having have any more children as he feels it would be “irresponsible” at his age.
He might have been big party person in the past not now. Nothing he’s done shocks me.

Frou said: “I’ve never, ever wanted kids, and now I’m 39, this is the last chance to. But I don’t know — I’ve never wanted kids.”
The newlyweds are off on a two-week honeymoon to Sardinia today.
Bez’s happy day came weeks after his dad and bandmate Paul Ryder died within the same weekend in July.
Paul’s family were at Bez’s wedding and are still awaiting the results of his autopsy after the 58-year-old suddenly died in bed from suspected heart and diabetes complications.
Bez’s dad passed away after a long illness, but his mum was able to make the wedding.
The dancer said: “It was great mum was there – I had planned to live stream the wedding for her and dad as he could never have made it, but I didn’t need to do that.

“It was sad Paul wasn’t there or my dad, but life waits for no man so you’ve got to enjoy yourself.
“Life don’t miss you, the circus just rollercoasters on without you – it’s f*****g mad.”
