First picture of Amber Heard in Justice League as Mera Queen of Atlantis released
Fans will have to wait until next November to see Johnny Depp's ex-wife make her Superhero debut
THE FIRST picture of Amber Heard in Justice League has been released.
Amber, 30, will play Mera Queen of Atlantis in the new DC Comics superhero flick.
Not only does she get to be in charge of a watery kingdom, she's also the on-screen wife of Jason Momoa's Aquaman.
The film also stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ezra Fisher as the Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.
While it's thought Amber will have just a supporting role in Justice League, she's expected to feature more prominently in 2018's standalone Aquaman movie, which will be directed by James Wan - the brains behind Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring and Furious 7.
Mera first appeared in Aquaman No. 11 back in 1963, but it wasn't until 2009 she was made more of a main player in the DC Universe.
In the Blackest Night storyline, she helped save her 2D comrades from oblivion, and has ruled alongside Aquaman ever since.
Her DC bio states: “You don’t want to get on this quick-tempered beauty’s bad side because she won’t hesitate to kick your butt across all seven seas.”
It's also worth noting that Mera can weaponise water, forming the liquid into anything she chooses.
Justice League is released in November 2017.
