GLAST OFF

Bastille’s Chris Wood hints at REUNION and says his kids were stunned by Glastonbury surprise set

BASTILLE blew their fans away with a secret set at Glastonbury this summer.

But no one was more surprised than drummer Chris ‘Woody’ Wood's two kids, who had never seen their dad perform live.

While frontman Dan Smith partied all weekend, Woody took his family along to experience Worthy Farm for the first time.

In an exclusive chat, Woody, who also performs alongside Kyle Simmons and Will Farquarson in Bastille, said: “I brought my young kids along to see us play a gig for the first time, as they’d only ever seen us play sound checks before.

“I think they were shocked to realise my job isn’t just playing to big empty rooms for no reason. They loved it, but hats off to anyone who takes their kids to Glastonbury for the whole weekend. We only lasted a day.

“Dan stayed for the entire weekend and had a wonderful time. It’s his favourite weekend of the year bar none.”

The group, whose album Give Me The Future + Dreams Of The Past is out, are headlining at The Hundred cricket finals at Lord’s today.

Woody said the lads love how the event gives a platform to up-and-coming acts.

When asked who he was looking forward to the most, Woody said: “Priya Ragu and Sea Girls for sure.

“We watched the Women’s Euros Final with Sea Girls. It’s wicked to see good new acts being given an opportunity.”

If you weren’t able to get tickets for today’s finals, there is a chance to watch the action live on BBC and Sky.

FRANKIE BRIDGE is All Fired Up for a night on the town in London.

The Saturdays singer opted for a crop-top and ripped jeans as she enjoyed an evening off parenting duties for the inaugural Soho House Awards at 180 The Strand.

Frankie was joined at the VIP bash by Team GB Olympic diver Tom Daley and Oscar-winner Daniel Kaluuya.

After being part of last year’s I’m A Celebrity line-up, Frankie says her former bandmate Una Healy should be the next member of The Saturdays to enter the show.

Another Saturdays singer, Vanessa White, also spent time on it in 2017.

Frankie said: “I’ve always said Una should do it. We did this haunted thing and she went into rooms on her own and shut the door.

“She is so brave and I think she would be great on it.”

ED FOR THE TOP

ED SHEERAN doesn’t think he will have “made it” until he has matched the success of Coldplay.

He has had four No1 albums, flogged more than 150million records worldwide and sold out five nights at Wembley Stadium this summer.

But Ed said: “My next milestone is . . .  Coldplay have done 20 years, so I would love to get to 20 years in my career.

“I feel like that’s an achievable milestone.

“But it’s still quite scary because it’s a long way away.”

Speaking to Access Creative College, where he is a patron, Ed added: “I’m very young in my career compared to someone like U2 or Coldplay, but U2 and Coldplay are two acts I look at avidly.

“All of their set is going to be hits.

“They are never going to play a B-side that people kind of know, and it’s always going to be a very impressive show.

“ It’s just bigger, bigger, bigger, better, better, better.”

Sigala in band of the Living

EUROVISION runner-up Sam Ryder has joined David Guetta and Sigala on a star-studded new single.

But there’s another big name attached to it, as the track started out as a Tom Grennan ballad.

Sigala said of Living Without You, which dropped yesterday: “Originally the song was written with David and Tom. It was a Tom piano ballad but then it sat on the shelf for a few years and no one really knew what to do with it.”

I first told of the track in June, as Sam was riding high on the back of his Eurovision success with Spaceman.

Sigala has now admitted he was initially worried about how Sam’s stint in Turin would affect the chances of their single being released.

He added: “David’s team sent it my way. I loved the challenge of turning a sad song into a dance track. Tom wasn’t able to feature on the song so we had the challenge of trying to replace him. I knew of Sam from TikTok and knew he had an incredible voice.

“This was all just before Eurovision.

“When he was in the studio he said he was doing Eurovision and to be honest I was sceptical as it doesn’t go well with the UK, but I had faith in Sam.”

Gary's teary take on life

Gary Barlow – A Different Stage – Duke Of York Theatre, London

HIS music has an ability to pull on the heartstrings and now Gary has taken that to the theatre with a one-man show soundtracked by some of his best songs.

He starts by recalling a childhood spent playing a Yamaha keyboard and dreaming of Top Of The Pops.

With an array of Eighties props and gags, Gary displays a talent for nostalgic comedy. Dreams give way to reality with Take That’s success, only to be followed by the lows of his solo career.

Gary relives the stillbirth of daughter Poppy in 2012, a scar he says he will “die with”. He performs his 2013 song Let Me Go in memory of Poppy, which helps turn the audience’s tears to smiles.

NICKI MINAJ gets herself into a tight squeeze on the set of her new video for Super Freaky Girl.

She wore an eye-catching stripy PVC dress for the high-budget shoot.

Living up to the rapper’s Barbie nickname, the racy song’s video sees Nicki sport a range of barely-there pink outfits as she twerks her way through a plastic-fantastic world.

In one of the most random team-ups of the year, the clip also features Vikings actor Alexander Ludwig.

He plays the role of Nicki’s love interest before she sets fire to him with a purple flame-thrower. Just another day at the office then.
