Russell Brand enrages villagers with plans to turn their only pub into vegan diner
RUSSELL Brand has enraged villagers with plans to turn their only pub into a vegan diner.
The Crown has glowing reviews for its ham, egg and chips and Sunday roasts.
But teetotal comic Brand, 47, and wife Laura bought it in March 2020 and a local told The Sun: “We’ve heard he’s planning to turn the pub into a vegan restaurant. Why would anybody want that?
“He clearly never had any intention of using the pub as a pub.
"He doesn’t even drink alcohol. Why buy a pub if you don’t like drink?”
The grade II-listed, 15th century boozer is the only pub in Pishill, Oxon. Essex-born dad-of-two Brand has already upset neighbours by performing a stand-up set in its barn.

He also plans to build a recording studio for his conspiracy theory YouTube rants.
An application for the studio has been lodged with South Oxfordshire District Council.
Planning documents say: “The entire property has recently undergone a change of ownership and the public house is temporarily closed whilst plans to refurbish the building and formulate the nature of the new establishment are put in place.”
My Booky Wook author Brand, who lives in nearby Henley-on-Thames, insists the pub will reopen and be refurbished once his recording studio is up and running.
