Eastenders fans left distraught as Whitney Dean and Lee Carter lose their baby in shock storyline
The expectant parents suffered a miscarriage and were left devastated by the news on Monday night's episode
EASTENDERS fans were left heartbroken after Monday night's episode after Whitney Dean suffered a miscarriage.
The expectant mum went to the hospital after spotting blood, only to be told when she was there that the baby didn't have a heartbeat.
Lee Carter, her boyfriend, broke down in tears as the doctors announced the loss, before she was taken away for an operation to ensure there were no further complications.
At the end of the episode Whitney, played by Shona McGarty, broke down in tears as she was comforted by Lee, and blamed herself for the loss of the child.
During the episode, Whitney was seen to be nonchalant and not too worried about the warning signs, but soon had her world come crashing down around her as she realised what had happened.
The Carter family came out in force to the hospital to support the pair, with Lee breaking down in his mum's arms as he told her the news.
