Céline Dion reveals she’s struggling to move on after the death of her husband… as he’s the only man she’s ever kissed
Singer is still heartbroken after losing her late husband René Angélil
SUPERSTAR Céline Dion is still very much grieving the death of her husband René Angélil – and admits he’s the only man she’s ever kissed.
The 48-year-old singer teared up as she revealed that her heart will only go on for her lost love René Angélil - and it’s not going to be mended anytime soon.
The Canadian star was married to her former manager for 21 years after meeting him through her mother when she was just 12 and he was 38 years old.
Of their first meeting, she said: "I thought he looked very beautiful. He looked great.
"I felt confident that this man was not treating me as a, 'Oh, hi, little pumpkin,' or 'Hi, little sweetie,' or like a little baby."
It’s been ten months since the star lost her husband after his long battle with throat cancer.
And although she’s back performing in Las Vegas and marked an epic landmark show, her thoughts are still deeply with her other half.
She marked her 1000th performance at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and spoke to US TV network CBS News about her heartache.
She said: “'I'm still married to him. I've never kissed another man in my life.”
The inseparable pair began dating in 1987 when she was 19 and he was 45 and by 1991 they were engaged and married at Montreal's Notre-Dame Basilica in 1994.
"Before he left, it was very, very difficult for all of us.
“For me especially, and my children, to see the man of my life die a little bit more every day.
“And when he left, it was kind of a relief for me that the man that I love, the only man that I kissed, the only man that I loved.
“Yeah. I never kissed another man in my life.
“So the man of my life was my partner, and we were one. So when he stopped suffering, I said to myself, he's OK. And he deserves not to suffer.
"Back in 2003, when I began performing in this newly-built theatre, little did we know we were going to reach such an incredible number of shows," Celine said.
"Thank you, René, who had this vision and shared the journey with me and thank you to the four million fans who made this possible by choosing music as their international language."
When asked if she could see herself moving on in future and finding love, she wasn’t too positive.
"Not now. I love, I love, I love him. I'm still in love with him. And I have the love of my children.
“I have the love of my fans. I love the people that I work with. So my life is not empty of love."
The star added, "But there's a song from Sia: ‘I go to sleep and imagine that you're there with me.'
“And I go to bed with him. And I come on stage with him. And so I'm still married to him."
