JOHN Travolta has shared a heartfelt tribute to his Grease co-star Olivia Newton-John following her death aged 73.

The 68-year-old said they would be "together again soon" as he praised the legendary actress.

Olivia - who played iconic character Sandra Dee in the 1978 film - died following a 30-year battle with breast cancer.

Leading stars paying tribute to the star, John wrote on Instagram: "My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better.

"Your impact was incredible. I love you so much.

"We will see you down the road and we will all be together again.

Grease director Randal Kleiser, said in a statement to : “I’m Heartbroken. She was one of a kind, and so very kind.

"For over four decades of our friendship she exuded nothing but love to everyone she met.

"Olivia was exactly the way you imagined her. I will miss her forever.”

A-List celebrity tributes have poured in for the much-loved star.

Actress Mandy Moore shared a black and white photo of the star, with the caption: "Thank you for the joy you brought countless people around the world."

Star Trek legend George Takei also paid tribute to the actress, writing on Twitter: "We have lost a great, iconic artist in Olivia Newton John, gone too soon from us at age 73.

"I trust she is now is the great Xanadu beyond. Know that we are forever helplessly devoted to you, Olivia. Rest in song and mirth."

Singer Dionne Warwick wrote: "Another angelic voice has been added to the Heavenly Choir.

"Not only was Olivia a dear friend, but one of the nicest people I had the pleasure of recording and performing with.

"I will most definitely miss her. She now Rests in the Arms of the Heavenly Father."

BRITS PAY TRIBUTE

Leading the tributes for the Brits was Piers Morgan.

The TalkTV star said: So sad to hear the fabulously gutsy, warm & talented Olivia Newton-John has died.

"At an auction of her Grease memorabilia in LA three years ago, she told me her favourite song from the movie was Hopelessly Devoted To You.

"Great song, great film, great lady. RIP.

Fellow TalkTV star Lizzie Cundy said: "So very sad to hear that Olivia Newton-John has died. Heartbreaking news.

"Grease is my all time favourite movie, and she is my all time favourite lady, beautiful inside and out. Rest in peace dear Olivia."

Singer Peter Andre tweeted: "I will never forget this night. I had the privilege of performing alongside Olivia Newton John for the Spina Bifida charity concert in Australia.

"She was warm, kind and caring to everyone backstage. She was the same every time we met. A true icon. Sad day."

Ex- Countdown presenter and Sky Sports legend Jeff Stelling wrote: "Omg Olivia Newton John was my teenage crush. Had a poster above my bed for years and was sooo jealous when my cousin met her !!! Such sad news."

Former Strictly star James Jordan said: ";So sad to hear about Olivia Newton - John.

"She was always my dads celebrity crush and I’m sure he will be waiting to meet her for a dance RIP."

Actress Melissa Johns tweeted: "When I was little, I was forever saying “when I’m older, I want to be like Olivia Newton-John.

"I was in complete awe of her. Something so so special. Whenever she was on TV, I couldn’t take my eyes off her. Here’s to your beautiful life 💜"

CBBC star Toby Anstis wrote: "Olivia, “Sandy”, gone😥🙈

"Schoolboy crush, she was everything. I wanted to be Danny Zuko and fly off with her in that car at the end of @GoGrease Every night I did the West End musical I thought of her. Too sad. All the love to her family❤️❤️❤️"

LOSING A LEGEND

The four-time Grammy Award-winner passed away on Monday morning at her ranch in Southern , her husband, John Easterling, confirmed on her  page.

"Dame Olivia Newton-John (73) passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends," Easterling said.

";Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer.

"Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer.

"In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her memory to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund (ONJFoundationFund.org)."

MOVIE ICON

Newton-John broke through the movie industry in 1978 when she starred opposite John Travolta in the film Grease, an adaptation of the Broadway hit.

Her iconic role as Sandy Olsson elevated her career to new heights, as her duet with co-star Travolta, You’re the One That I Want, topped the pop charts and Summer Nights hit No. 5.

Before that, Olivia was no stranger to the limelight, having had five number one hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100 during the 1970s.
