'WE ARE SO PROUD OF HER'

X Factor star Honey G’s MUM is seen for the first time and praises her quirky performance

HONEY G might have come under fire from X Factor fans but her loving mum is fighting her corner and showed her support as she took to the stage for the first live show.

The quirky rapper has been slammed by telly addicts during the audition rounds, with many expressing their anger as Sharon Osbourne chose her for the Overs category at the Judge's Houses stage last week.

A petition to get her booted off the show in ongoing yet her proud parent, dubbed Mamma G, spoke out on spin-off show Xtra Factor and said: "On behalf of my family, I want to say we are so proud of her tonight.

"We admire her tenacity and courage."

She showed her cheerleader status by sporting a white T-shirt with the words Honey G emblazoned across the front.

Channelling her daughter's streetwise, Coolio-inspired look, she donned a red baseball cap on her head.

Meanwhile host Rylan Clark-Neal could be heard whispering "she's normal" to the crowd before head judge Simon Cowell said: "I've met the mum, she is very sweet."

Last night,  Honey G surprised the judges with her performance of California Love by Tupac.

It appears that fans at home were also beginning to become won over by the rapper, and took to Twitter to express their shock.

One wrote: “#HoneyG was quite good! She got the crowd involved and the judges! If#SnoopDogg wants to work with her then she must be alright!”

Another added: ” Still laughing about #HoneyG I think she’s great!! That is entertainment people. When I say Honey….you say G! Just get with it #XFactor”

A third said: “ Says a lot about this series when one of the best performances of the night was Honey G. This series is drunk.”

X Factor fans were outraged after judge Sharon Osbourne handed Honey G a spot in the live finals along with Saara Aalto and Relley C — and at the expense of Yorkshire singer Samantha Atkinson.

Jasemin Kara - the cousin of X Factor reject Samantha Atkinson - then set up a petition calling for Honey to be removed of her place.

Samantha, 33, was left heartbroken when she lost her place to Honey G at the Judges' Houses stage of the programme.

She branded the show a "fix" and set up the online forum which has now secured more than 16,000 signatures of support.

Themes up for grabs include Oscars, Boy Band vs Girl Band, Disco, Motown, 80’s, Divas and Louis Loves (the Louis Walsh collection).

Catch The X Factor, Saturday and Sunday on ITV1.
