Victoria Beckham FINALLY reunites with The Spice Girls as they create new documentary series about the band

THE Spice Girls will soon be returning to the screen.

I’ve learned that Emma Bunton, Melanie C, Geri Horner, Mel B — and even Victoria Beckham — have signed a deal for a docuseries about the record-breaking girl group.

It is being made by the team behind The Last Dance, the critically acclaimed hit Netflix series about basketball superstar Michael Jordan.

The girls recently put pen to paper on the deal for the show, which will document their rise to the top and huge impact on pop culture.

Letting slip about the news during an interview in Australia, Mel B referred to The Last Dance and said: “The director and the whole concept of how that was shot and filmed is really, really, really good. So we’ll be doing our own version with them.”

It will feature unheard stories and showbiz anecdotes from their time together, which Mel B let slip a taste of.

Revealing the secret behind one of her most famous verses, she recalled: “The rap in the Wannabe video, I actually wrote on the toilet while the other girls were doing the vocals.

“My kids go, ‘Mummy, your music has come full circle’, and I’m thinking, ‘Ooh they’re going to compliment me’. Then I get told, ‘It’s come full circle because now you’re just vintage’. Old but good.”

This year marks a quarter of a century since the release of their second album and their movie Spice World and they have teased they will be celebrating the anniversary with some other surprises.

It is believed that will include a re-release of the 1997 movie, which featured Richard E. Grant, Jennifer Saunders and Meat Loaf among others.

It could also mean new Spice music will come out.

The girls premiered the previously unreleased song Feed Your Love last year while celebrating the anniversary of their debut album Spice, which included the hit Who Do You Think You Are.

Their careers, together and individually, have been remarkable, so I’ve no doubt this series will be well worth the wait.

ED ’N’ ADELE GET MERCURY ELBOW

ADELE and Ed Sheeran had the biggest-selling albums of 2021 but that wasn’t enough to earn them nominations for the Mercury Prize.

The shortlist of the 12 albums of the year were announced yesterday and their records 30 and Equals were snubbed, although Harry Styles and Sam Fender’s recent releases did bag spots on the list.

Yard Act’s The Overload, Self Esteem’s Prioritise Pleasure, Little Simz’s Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, Joy Crookes’ Skin, Kojey Radical’s Reason To Smile and Wet Leg’s self-titled album were nominated.

And there were also some curveballs on the list, with jazz pianist Fergus McCreadie being up for Forest Floor alongside Gwenno’s Tresor, Nova Twins’ Supernova and For All Our Days That Tear The Heart by Jessie Buckley and Bernard Butler.

The winning album will be announced at a ceremony on September 8 at the Eventim Apollo in West London, where the top act will scoop the title and a £25,000 prize. It sounds like Yard Act already know what they will spend that on – air fresheners.

Bassist Ryan Needham told Bizarre: “Our rehearsal room absolutely stinks, it’s like a squat. And then we’ve got this one corner with the trophies in. We need to bring the quality of the rest of the room up.

“I guess it smells like cigarettes, mildew, like a teenager’s bedroom.

“You know in films when there’s a serial killer and they hang up those magic tree air fresheners? We could just get a load of those. But it’s our creative, inspirational hub so I don’t want to slag it off too much.”

Rapper Kojey Radical said the nod from the music industry had given him more confidence.

He said: “Very rarely am I lost for words or moved to a place of emotion.

“I like to think of my heart as a black hole and my tear ducts as a barren desert and today I have literally gone to war with my tear ducts, fighting back every tear in my body.

“Maybe a little bit of imposter syndrome makes me think, ‘Am I good enough?’ But I guess all the questions have been answered by me being here.”

CHRISTINA'S MAD FOR IT

CHRISTINA AGUILERA does her best Madonna impression by wearing a metallic corset.

The Genie In A Bottle singer also wore PVC boots and futuristic sunglasses at Starlite Festival in Marbella.

Christina worked her way through a string of hits at the event, including Beautiful and Fighter.

She releases a new music video for single, Suéltame, on Friday.

The song title, which means Let Me Go in English, is a collab with Argentine singer Tini.

If Christina’s recent stage outfits are anything to go by, I think her look for the video will be just as racy and as in Vogue as Madonna.

LOOKING GOULDING

ELLIE GOULDING looked ready for a night on the tiles in an oversized white shirt and black cowboy boots.

But the Easy Lover singer may not be too fun on an evening out these days, as she admitted motherhood has turned her into a blubbering mess.

She gave birth to son Arthur in May 2021 and said it makes her get teary over everything.

Chatting to Jo Whiley on Radio 2, before being spotted leaving the London studios, she said of becoming a mum: “It has changed me. I’m definitely more of an emotional person.

“I get affected by things and I cry a lot more. I cry all the time. Even adverts sometimes. Any kind of rom com I watched before has taken a whole new meaning, like Love Actually and the Notting Hill.

“Suddenly everything is so sad or happy. I think that probably has crept into my music.”

REGE'S MARVEL MISHAP

REGE JEAN PAGE kept his cool with an iced coffee in New York after Disney wrongly named him as a new Marvel character in their latest series Secret Invasion.

The bungle about the Brit actor came at Comic-Con in San Diego, California, over the weekend. Rege was there promoting new film Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves.

Hours later Disney was forced to backtrack and said it had “accidentally included” Rege in the cast list for its Marvel show.

While the company was left red-faced, it was business as usual for Rege and he looked smart in a white cardigan and sage trousers for an appearance on Good Morning America.

BRITNEY’S TINY CHANCER

BRITNEY SPEARS’ comeback project will be out in less than a month.

She promised new music in December last year and now the Toxic singer has teamed up with Sir Elton John to re-record his 1971 hit Tiny Dancer.

Insiders told New York Times gossip column Page Six the pair had recorded the song as a duet in a top secret recording session in Beverly Hills last week.

Elton is no stranger to big name collaborations and his last album, The Lockdown Sessions, featured artists including Dua Lipa and Lil Nas X.

But I have to say, working on Britney’s comeback is a huge coup.

OLLY PRAISES CAROLINE AT FLACKSTOCK

OLLY MURS paid an emotional tribute to late telly star Caroline Flack at the festival created in her honour.

The Troublemaker singer took to the stage at Flackstock near Reading and dedicated the Neil Diamond hit Sweet Caroline to the TV star, who took her own life in February 2020.

He said: “It is such an amazing thing to be doing this for Caz today, there was no way on this Earth that I was going to miss it and it is such an honour to be here.

“Caroline was the most amazing person and I loved her so much and the one thing that she always said to me was that she wanted people to be kind.

“And please if any of you guys, I know you guys will, if anyone thinks for one moment on social media to write anything negative please be kind.”

The festival helped raise cash for a number of mental health charities including Choose Love, Mind and Samaritans.

I was lucky enough to be invited to Flackstock and it was a brilliant day for a fantastic cause.

Caroline would have been proud.

Alongside stars in the crowd including Joel Dommett, singers Tom Grennan and Fleur East also performed at the event at Englefield House.

PULP: THIS IS ENCORE

JARVIS COCKER has made Britpop fans very happy – after announcing Pulp would reform next year.

The singer posted a cryptic video on Instagram last week which asked: “What exactly do you do for an encore?” – lyrics from their 1998 single This Is Hardcore.

And on stage at a fan Q and A in London, Jarvis confirmed the band are returning. He said of the question that was posed in his video: “It was deliberately cryptic.

“It’s a line from This Is Hardcore.

“Next year, Pulp are going to play some concerts.”

Jarvis and bandmates Russell Senior, Candida Doyle, Nick Banks, Steve Mackey and Mark Webber split in 2002.

They reunited in 2010 and the following year performed a surprise set at Glastonbury as well as headlining Reading and Leeds festival.

Pulp last played together live in 2012, in their hometown of Sheffield, and in 2020 Jarvis admitted the group would only return when the time was right.

Welcome back, guys. I’ll be buying a ticket for sure.

NICKY HAD PITT OF FUN ON TOUR

HE was one of pop music’s biggest heart-throbs at the height of his career in Westlife.

And says he used the name of another popular hunk when checking into hotels.

The Irish singer used Brad Pitt as a pseudonym when on the road with his bandmates Mark Feehily, Shane Filan and Kian Egan.

But now he is older and a bit wiser, Nicky has decided to change his secret identiy for the band’s latest tour.

He said: “The resemblance is uncanny – I’m joking.

“I’m a big Brad fan. We all had different names so people couldn’t ring our rooms. I was always Mr Pitt.

“I’ve changed it now. I had to change it before this world tour.”

VMAS ARE A RAPPERS DELIGHT

They have seven apiece, while Doja Cat and Harry Styles each have six, including Video of the Year.

Billie Eilish, Drake, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd and British artists Dua Lipa and Ed Sheeran all stand a good chance of doing well on the night as they have picked up five nominations each.
