Glasto no-go?

Glastonbury Festival 2017 – When is the resale, can I buy from a tout and how else can I get in?

GLASTONBURY Festival 2017 sold out within an hour, with some 135,000 tickets snapped up in 50 minutes, despite website problems.

Demand was extra-large this year as organiser Michael Eavis had previously confirmed that it would be the last festival until 2019 at the earliest.

But if you don’t manage to get your hands on a golden ticket in the initial sale period, don’t panic – there’s still some hope of getting in.

How can I get a ticket if they’re sold out?

More than 2 million people tried to buy 135,000 Glastonbury tickets during the big Sunday morning sale this year, so it’s not surprising that by 10am there were a lot of disappointed revellers.

But there’s always a glimmer of hope, as a limited number of tickets are made available down the line – usually in April.

These are mostly tickets released from buyers who put down a deposit in October, but haven’t paid off the full amount in time.

However, to be eligible for the resale, you need to be pre-registered. That closed on Monday 3rd October.

How much does a ticket cost?

Tickets for the 2017 festival are £238 per person, plus £5 booking fee. They’re all . None were available by phone this year.

Can I get a ticket from a tout or another seller?

In a word, no. Each ticket includes a photograph of the purchaser (supplied during registration), and is non-transferable. Strict security checks are carried out on arrival, and only the specified ticket holder will be admitted.

So how else can I get into the festival?

You could volunteer to be an Oxfam steward. You’ll be able to do your bit for charity and get in the festival for free.

Successful applicants have to work three 8-hour shifts during the festival, but you’ll still have free time to see plenty of acts.
