Made in Chelsea new boy Akin Solande-Caulker on being the show’s first black cast member and ‘the next Spencer Matthews’
Nearly 800 Palestinians have been injured as the 'Day of Rage' was launched
MADE in Chelsea’s newest recruit is Akin Solanke-Caulker, and despite astonishingly being the show’s FIRST black cast member, the sports agent says he’s not there “to build up a quota.”
Akin who has been friends with Alex Mytton since their schooldays and hails from East London’s Shoreditch insists that it’s his “natural relationships” that have landed him a spot on the posh reality show.
“For me it’s a representation of London, as a multicultural city,” he exclusively told The Sun Online.
“I think something that’s been interesting to my friends and family is that there are a whole load of different people of different colours who could’ve gone onto the show but wouldn’t have been a good fit.
“So you have to make sure you’re putting people in there who fit well with the show, not just to build up a quota.
“I have a natural relationship with a lot of people on the show, so hopefully it’ll be a fit.”
Before the show even airs hunky Akin has been billed as “the next Spencer Matthews", although he admits that he’s not sure how he feels about that tag yet.
“That is good and bad, a bit of both isn’t it?
“From what I’ve seen and I’ve met him a few times, he’s a good guy, he’s a confident character which I am, he was good with the ladies as well… I’m not sure if I am.”
As for bagging himself an MiC lady, Akin says he’ll take his time.
"There’s no particular girl yet, but being the new guy I guess it’s best to sit back and assess the situation before I become the Spencer Matthews of the show - Spencer 2.0.”
And when it comes to looking for love, Akin has some very specific needs.
“I like girls taller than me. I’m 5’8”, and when eventually have kids of my own I don’t want them to go through the struggle that I did, so I need a taller lady! From day one I've had all the height jokes you can think of.”
