Adele tears up as she admits ‘I’m s***ting myself’ at comeback concert in front of 65k people

ADELE appeared on the brink of tears as she walked on stage in Hyde Park for her first concert in five years, telling the crowd: “Help me.”

The superstar was emotional as she started her song Hello, stopping during the first verse to tell fans: “I’m so happy to be here.”

She then urged the audience, which included actor Tom Cruise, to help her sing the ballad.

After the first song, she admitted: “I’m f***ing s***ting myself.”

Having sung the first three tracks, she added: “My God, I’m back at home.”

Performing under a stage adorned with tassels, Adele wore a black halter neck dress with a gold waistband.

Despite releasing her fourth album 30 last year, she only performed five songs from the record, including second track I Drink Wine.

She has frequently battled with vocal issues during her live shows but was in good shape on stage while sipping a hot drink.

The superstar singer defied expectations to perform for a crowd of 65,000 — which included a gallery of celebrity fans — despite doubts about whether her two London shows would go ahead.

Adele has not played a public live show since she headlined two concerts at Wembley in 2017, having postponed her Las Vegas residency in January.

TV presenter and actor James Corden, Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz, One Direction star Niall Horan, Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown and comic Rob Beckett were some of the other famous faces seen in the audience for last night’s landmark show.

Also at British Summertime Hyde Park were former Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge and radio presenter Nick Grimshaw.

Adele had performed a three-song sound check at 11.30am to make sure the evening went smoothly. A source said: “She was in really good spirits.”

She even had the backstage bar renamed The Queen Vic — a nod to the pub in EastEnders.

The event had an all-female line-up curated by Adele, including Gabrielle and Self Esteem and country singer Kacey Musgraves. 

Gabrielle said: “It’s an honour to grace the stage before the most phenomenal singer the world has ever seen.

“I want to say thank you to Adele for allowing me to be here tonight — because without her, I would be at home watching my soaps.”
