Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher mocked for becoming the face of Clarks shoes
FRESH from giving an interview to pensioners’ bible Reader’s Digest, one-time rock wildman LIAM GALLAGHER has stepped even further into old age.
I’ve learned the former OASIS hellraiser has signed up to be the new face of Clarks — the favoured footwear brand for school kids and sensible middle-aged men.
The singer started shooting an ad for them this week and will be bigging up the footwear firm despite the fact it is famously uncool.
A source said: “Liam gets approached to do loads of different things, so it’s utterly strange that Clarks is the company he has opted to do a campaign with.
"He’s still desperately trying to seem cool and edgy, but now he’s going to be helping to sell regular work shoes."
“It doesn’t exactly fit with this idea of him being a rock star."

‘I don’t want to feel s**t’
“Liam started work on an advert this week, which is due to be rolled out later in the year on TV and online.
"They’ve paid him an extortionate amount, but it seems as though Liam actually just thought this is a good thing to do for his image.”
The deal comes after the star revealed he had given up partying because he “can’t handle” big nights out.
Liam — who is currently waiting for a double hip replacement — told Reader’s Digest: “That voice, which used to be very distant, saying, ‘Go to bed. You’re not going out tonight’ is now very loud.

“Years ago it would have been like, ‘You what? I beg your f***ing pardon?’
"These days it’s, ‘Chill out. You’ve had your share’. I’m listening to that voice a lot more. I don’t want to feel s**t any more.
"Or break any more hearts. I’m nearly 50, I want to have good times, not s**t times.
“I’d love to get off my t*ts all the time, but I can’t handle it.”
If this is what he wants to spend his time doing now, it really is the end of the road for him as a credible rock’n’roller.
Werther’s Originals had better get on the blower quick — I’ve just found them their next ambassador.
As Noel gets a Wonderwall...
NOEL GALLAGHER has long cemented his place among rock’s royalty – and now he can stand physically alongside its most recognisable icons too.
The former OASIS guitarist commissioned Brighton artists The Postman to create this astonishing mural on the outside walls of his North London studio, featuring David Bowie, John Lennon, Johnny Rotten and DJ Andy Weatherall in vibrant colours.
Noel then posed with daughter Anais in front of the image for a snap by top rock photographer Dave Hogan.
I’ve been lucky enough to visit Noel at the studio to see where the magic happens, and he told me he had personally custom-built the studio from scratch.
His project made him the envy of pals including Paul Wller, who is among the guests who have used the facility.
Now the outside lives up to the wizardry indoors.
kylie black and forth
THERE’S no stopping Kylie Minogue following her whistle-stop visit to Glastonbury.
She watched from the side of the stage at Worthy Farm as Diana Ross performed in the Sunday legends slot – three years after the pop princess did it herself.
Now busy Kylie has jetted to Morocco where she wore this black outfit at a Louis Vuitton jewellery launch.
She revealed Glasto holds a special place in her heart, as her performance in 2019 made her feel like she was finally celebrated by the public and critics alike.
On turning that tide, Kylie said: “It’s kind of been a lifelong process.
CALVIN CALLS IN STARS
CALVIN HARRIS has really rinsed his phonebook for his new album as it is jam-packed with stars.
The Scottish DJ has announced he will release Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 – his first album in five years – on August 5 featuring collaborations with Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg and Normani.
He shared a full list of people he has worked with online, which also includes Charlie Puth, Pusha T, Tinashe, Halsey, Offset, Busta Rhymes, Latto, 21 Savage and Jorja Smith, on top of his already-released Dua Lipa track Potion.
Calvin is a busy guy because he has been juggling preparations for the record with his weekly Friday night residency at Ibiza megaclub Ushuaia.
After tonight’s show, he will be jetting to Glasgow’s Hampden Park for a homecoming concert tomorrow. At least he can afford a private jet to dodge the airline delays.
“To really feel like, ‘I did that’ was Glastonbury in 2019 – to be performing in the legends slot.”
Funny money, Kath
SHE is used to making other people chuckle, and that talent has got Katherine Ryan laughing all the way to the bank.
The Canadian-Irish comic paid herself a £1.15million dividend after the company which deals with her business pocketed £1.36million last year.
According to new accounts, the telly favourite also awarded herself £470,000 for the previous 12 months.
Katherine – who celebrated her 39th birthday yesterday with a day out in London at the Wimbledon tennis – has seen her star power rocket during the past five years thanks to appearances on TV panel shows 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Would I Lie To You?, Mock The Week and Taskmaster.
In 2020 she released her own Netflix series The Duchess – a raunchy comedy based on her life in London – and she has also had two specials on the streaming service.
Then in another major money-spinner, Katherine released a series on Amazon Prime last month called Backstage With Katherine Ryan, in which she combined her own stand-up gags with behind-the-scenes gossip from other comedians.
Just last week she was photographed filming new Sky rom-com series Romantic Getaway with fellow comic Romesh Ranganathan.
Before long Katherine will be raking in even more, as she is due to restart her Missus stand-up tour across the UK in September.
There’s just no stopping her.
Good as it Ghetts
GRIME rapper Ghetts is already hard at work on the follow-up to last year’s Mercury Prize-nominated album, Conflict Of Interest.

He performed a gig on the roof of Shoreditch House in East London to celebrate the launch of audio firm Bowers & Wilkins’ new Px7 S2 headphones – and now plans to take inspiration from the event.
After asking the crowd to give him words to include in a freestyle rap, he admitted: “I’ll do this . . . then I’m going to the studio.”
