Actress Ellen Thomas has confirmed her time in Walford has come to an end
EASTENDERS is set to be rocked by yet another exit as it has been revealed that revealed Claudette Hubbard is leaving the show.
Actress Ellen Thomas, who has played the scheming matriarch since last year, has confirmed she is leaving Walford.
The news is a further blow to fans of the show as a stream of popular characters have been disappearing in recent weeks.
The actress joined the show in March, 2015 playing Richard Blackwood’s on-screen mum Claudette.
Ellen is filming her final scenes, but there are reportedly no plans to kill off the character – so a return could be on the cards.
She reportedly told BBC Radio London: “The story at the moment is that she’s off on one of her trips and she’s staying with her son and she’s off.”
A spokesperson for the show told : “As our regular viewers will know, Claudette has often been seen coming and going from the Square to visit her family and friends.
“This is the end of another stint for Claudette and we wish Ellen all the best for the future.”
Claudette was previously thought to have left the show during a controversial storyline in which it appeared she had been killed off, but later rose from the dead.
The news comes following news that Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter, is taking a six-month break from the show to focus on motherhood.
Lin Blakley, who plays Pam Coker, is also leaving, along with Mitchell sisters Ronnie and Roxie, Samantha Womack and Rita Simons.
Fishmonger Buster Briggs (Karl Howman) and travel-lover Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra) have also just left Albert Square as their storylines came to a close.
