YOUTUBE sensation Uncle Roger has won an army of fans with his spoof videos on the streaming platform.
The man behind the character is Nigel Ng, who has seen his star soar since 2020.
Who is Uncle Roger?
Comedian Nigel Ng has become best known for his comedic persona Uncle Roger.
His character speaks with a pronounced Cantonese-like accent and prides himself on many South East Asian stereotypes.
His comedy partner Evelyn Mok came up with the middle-aged Asian uncle character for a sitcom with Nigel in mind.
Nigel further developed the character on TikTok and Instagram sketches, before moving the character onto YouTube.
In July 2020, Ng attracted attention for his YouTube video critique of Hersha Patel’s BBC Food video on cooking egg-fried rice in the Uncle Roger persona.
After the video went viral, Ng and Patel appeared on BBC together.

Who is Nigel Ng?
Nigel Ng Kin-ju, 31, was born March 15, 1991 and is a Malaysian stand-up comedian and internet celebrity based in London.
He made his TV debut in 2018 on Comedy Central’s Stand Up Central.
Nigel hosts the comedy podcast Rice to Meet You with UK-based Swedish comedian Evelyn Mok.
In 2021, he appeared on series 19 of BBC Two’s Mock the Week.
What is his feud with Jamie Oliver?
As Uncle Roger, Nigel is well known for his beef with Jamie Oliver.
He has released numerous critique videos on his self-titled of the TV chef.
The most famous video was called Uncle Roger HATE Jamie Oliver Egg Fried Rice, which since its release in 2020, has had nearly 21M views.
Nigel has also reviewed the fried rice of a number of other chefs.
In September 2020, he posted a critique video of Gordon Ramsay’s fried rice cooking, in which he praised the chef for his correct technique.
