Ryan Thomas is heading to Toronto to host Coronation Street bash – as Hollywood dreams continue to fall flat
The star quit the ITV soap to 'spread his wings and try other roles' but still hasn't had any luck
RYAN THOMAS’s decision to quit CORONATION STREET to “spread his wings and try other roles” hasn’t led him to Hollywood just yet.
The actor, who walked away from the cobbles after 16 years in June, is flying half-way around the world to host a Corrie-themed bash in Toronto and drum up extra cash since struggling to find work since leaving the show.
Ryan, who played unlucky-in-love builder Jason Grimshaw, will make the 3,300-mile trip for just two days’ work at the end of the month after being approached by a group of superfans who hold special events dedicated to the soap.
A source said: “Ryan’s new career path isn’t exactly going the way he’d originally had mapped out.
“He’s still pursuing his Hollywood dreams but needs to earn a living while he waits for it all to kick off, so he’s signed up to attend the event where he’ll do some meet and greets and pose for selfies with fans on October 29 and 30.”
His new booking comes after he appeared in his first venture since leaving the soap earlier this week – signing autographs at a truck festival in Shropshire.
Ryan was believed to have earned around £90,000 a year for his role in Corrie, but was declared bankrupt in 2013 over an unpaid tax bill of £40,000.
I revealed in Bizarre last week how he’d been filling all his free time with new girlfriend Brea Taddei, a Topshop worker from Manchester, after splitting from his partner of seven months, Lana Martin.
At least love don’t doesn’t cost a thing.
