YOU'D be hard to find anyone in the world who didn't know who Elvis Presley was.
But little is known about the woman who raised the superstar, his mum Gladys.
Who was Gladys Presley?
Elvis' mother was born Gladys Love Smith on April 25, 1912.
She was the daughter of a cotton farmer, and in the 1930s she met her future husband Vernon Presley at church.
As she was 21 at the time, she was four years older than him as he was only 17.
Because he was underage, they lied about their ages in order to get married in 1933.
Two years later, Gladys gave birth to Elvis on January 8, 1935.
However, tragedy occurred during the birth, as she had been expecting twins, but the first boy, Jesse Garon Presley, was stillborn.
