PETER Andre has defended his decision to splash out on a £25,000 car for his son Junior.
The proud dad, 49, treated Junior to the Audi A1 for his 17th birthday, despite him not being able to drive yet.
Peter has now confirmed the motor is secondhand, as he was keen to "set the right example" to his impressionable son.
Writing in his column for magazine, he said: "I may have spoilt him with an Audi A1, which is the one he really wanted, but it wasn't brand-new - so it wasn't exactly what he wanted!
"I don't think a new car would set the right example. He's started lessons and I'm sure it won't be long until he's on the road."
Peter shares Junior and younger sister Princess, 14, with his ex-wife Katie Price.

Last week, the Australian singer filmed a short clip of his eldest children as they sat in Junior's new Audi together.
Writing on Instagram, he gushed: "I think he’s loving his new car. Happy birthday son. Now you just have to pass your test."
In an earlier column, Pete had expressed just how proud he is of his teenage son.
"It's Junior's 17th birthday next week, which means it's time for a car and driving lessons!" he wrote.

"It feels crazy that little J is now old enough to drive. He's a good kid and makes me proud."
He added: "I spent last week looking for his first car and asked him to give me a list of models he likes so the present will be a surprise on the day.
"But I don't want him to go too flash. It's his first car and he needs to be sensible."

Meanwhile, Junior is following in his dad's footsteps and has just landed a number one with his debut single Slide.
The track shot to the top of the UK iTunes charts after being released, selling better than former One Direction singer Harry Styles, and Lady Gaga.
