Grandad Liam Gallagher needs to stop acting like an OAP and get back to rock n roll
NEVER mind music bibles Rolling Stone or NME, Liam Gallagher has given his latest big interview to . . . Reader’s Digest.
Now, I know Liam — who I have mocked up as the old man he has become — is in need of a double hip replacement and is about to turn the big 5-0, but I didn’t think he was quite ready to target the bus pass posse with his music.
In his chat with the care home coffee table staple — which is just one wrinkle away from Saga magazine — Liam said he has chosen to quit partying because a nagging voice in his head told him to stop.
Unless senility is already kicking in, Liam, there is every chance that voice belongs to your missus, Debbie.
The former Oasis frontman said: “That voice, which used to be very distant, saying, ‘Go to bed. You’re not going out tonight’, is now very loud.
“Years ago it would have been like, ‘You what? I beg your f***ing pardon?’.

"These days it’s, ‘Chill out. You’ve had your share’. “I’m listening to that voice a lot more. I don’t want to feel s**t any more. Or break any more hearts.
“I’m nearly 50, I want to have good times, not s**t times. I’d love to get off my t*ts all the time, but I can’t handle it.”
The C’mon You Know singer also blamed his lifestyle for the end of his marriages to actor Patsy Kensit and former All Saints singer Nicole Appleton.
He added: “I’ve lost a few things, marriage break-ups and all that. You’ve just got to look in the mirror and remember that.

"There’s things I’m not proud of, I’ve messed up and done some stupid stuff.”
Something all Reader’s Digest fans can relate to, I’m sure.
Naturally, his estranged big brother Noel also got a mention, with Liam saying: “He just seems like a different person.
"It’s like he’s been abducted. But, you know, I love him. We can go on about whose fault it is, but he’s his own man.
“If he really wanted to get in contact, for my mum’s sake, he could do it, but he obviously doesn’t.
"There are only so many olive branches you can offer.”
The only thing you haven’t tried with Noel, Liam, is just shutting up about him. Maybe give that a try.
TOM'S FASHION FIX
TOM DALEY and Dustin Lance Black made sure they were the main focus at Milan Fashion Week.
The British Olympian and his Hollywood director husband dressed head to toe in bright Moschino outfits as they wandered around the Italian city.
While on the trip, Tom confirmed he won’t be competing in this year’s Common-wealth Games in Birmingham despite taking home a gold medal at last year’s Olympics.
The diver said yesterday: “Before the Olympics I decided I would take a year out from the sport to have some time to rest and be with my family.
"Can’t wait to watch all my team-mates kick some butt.”
NOW SAM’S RACE MAN
SAM RYDER sang about jetting off into the solar system on Space Man but next he will be soundtracking a different kind of high-speed journey.
The Eurovision runner-up will open proceedings at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, in Northants, on July 3, performing the national anthem and playing on the main stage of the post-race show, where Mabel will also sing.
He said: “The past few months have been a whirlwind and taught me that you can never dream too big.
"Since I was a kid I’ve always been a huge fan of Formula 1, and to combine that with music and performing at such a legendary event on the British sporting calendar is an honour.”
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Eurovision winners Kalush Orchestra, who triumphed with their song Stefania, were last night added to the line-up for Glastonbury.
They will play on Shangri-La’s Truth Stage on Friday.
RITA'S BACK TO BASS-ICS
RITA ORA looked pretty in pink in this dress but she will want something more comfortable when it comes to raving along to her new single.
This afternoon (5PM) she will be making a move into drum’n’bass by dropping her song Barricades, a collaboration with Netsky.
She will be hoping history repeats itself, as the last time she was on a drum’n’bass song it was DJ Fresh’s Hot Right Now, her first No1.
Rita wore this dress to perform at a VIP bash for jeweller Cartier in Madrid, Spain, this week, but my other exclusive photos here show her behind the scenes on the video shoot for Barricades.
She told me: “Collaborating on another drum’n’bass record a decade after my first No1 Hot Right Now with DJ Fresh, feels like coming home, and I’m beyond excited for everyone to hear it.
"I hope they love dancing to it as much as I do.”
STORM AT UNI
CONGRATULATIONS to Stormzy for being awarded an honorary degree from the University of Exeter.
The Heavy Is The Head rapper was celebrated for his “outstanding achievement in the field of higher education, philanthropy and widening participation”.
Stormzy joked in his speech during the graduation ceremony yesterday: “I am going up in the world. I’m a philanthropist now.”
He added: “We should always share and support, uplift and help in whatever capacity we are able to.
“All of these levels of being a helping hand are beautiful and all of them are just as powerful as each other.”
BEY’S JOY AT RENAISSANCE
ENIGMATIC Beyonce will finally open up in a new documentary which has sparked a bidding war between streaming services.
The superstar has spent more than two years making her album Renaissance – alongside a film crew recording much of the process for a special, which Netflix and Disney+ are fighting over.
Yesterday she released single Break My Soul, from her first album since Lemonade six years ago, which will be out next month.
A music insider said: “Beyonce has hundreds of hours of footage in which she talks about all manner of things and documents the making of this album.
“She has really put her everything into it. It is still being made so it is likely much of the release will be covered.
"It might not be out for some time, but Netflix and Disney are both very interested.”
The documentary will be the first since her 2019 Netflix release Homecoming, about her critically acclaimed headline set at Coachella festival in the US the previous year.
And while that was a massive success thanks to all of her hits, she has changed things up when it comes to the sound of this upcoming record.
The insider added: “Beyonce used a lot of her lower register on her last two albums but is switching it up this time and is singing much higher – her vocal performances are more dramatic.
“The theme of the album is rebirth and renewal. While Lemonade addressed her pain, the new music is about finding joy and happiness after it.”
We could all do with a little bit of that.
FIRST REVIEW
BEYONCE Break My Soul
WHAT better way for Beyonce to reintroduce herself than to drop one of the songs of the summer.
Break My Soul samples the pulsating house beats of Robin S’s Show Me Love and features rousing cries from rapper Big Freedia, tied together by Bey’s silky vocals.
It sounds like a sweltering, sweaty, chaotic nightclub, and while it isn’t particularly groundbreaking, in a post-pandemic world it’ll get people back on the dance floor.
LOVE AND GATE, MICK
ROLLING STONES legend Mick Jagger has never been shy when it comes to his fashion sense.
And during the Swinging Sixties it seems nothing was off limits in terms of what he would wear to make sure he was at the best parties.
It has been claimed he was once so desperate to get access to lesbian club Gateways, he offered to pull on a dress for the occasion.
The West London haunt ran from 1930 to 1985, with a total male ban coming into force from 1967.
Available now on iPlayer, Gateways Grind: London’s Secret Lesbian Club tells of the rise and fall of the venue.
Despite repeated attempts Mick, who lived nearby, was rejected at the door every time.
As one of the most famous rockers of all time, I can’t imagine he has been turned away from anywhere else since.
Bizbit
MOLLIE KING and Matt Edmondson are a game, set and match made in heaven to host a tennis podcast.
The Radio 1 duo have teamed up with Evian natural mineral water to record Wimbledon: Between The Lines, which sees them joined by guests as they celebrate 100 years of Centre Court at the the championships which get under way next Monday .
GILL'S KILLER ROLE
GILLIAN ANDERSON says she wants to play a cold-hearted killer in her next role.
It comes after she has tired of playing “serious women,” including Margaret Thatcher in Netflix’s royal drama The Crown and Eleanor Roosevelt her upcoming series The First Lady.
She said at the UK launch of streaming service Paramount+: “There is so much to do. I haven’t killed anybody.
"Oh, no, maybe I killed somebody once? I’d like to kill somebody.
“I keep playing very, very, serious women who seem to have it all together and I’d like to be a basket case, because I am a basket case! It would be good to do that.”
Although she isn’t a killer, she does play a bit of a bonkers character as sex therapist Jean Milburn in Netflix’s Sex Education.
On its success, she said she reckons “prudish” Brits only add to the comedy of the series.

Gillian added: “I think that is what partly makes it so funny.
“What I have heard from fans of all ages is that they have felt seen and heard and it seems to pretty much cover the cross section of humanity.”
