Michelle Keegan reveals she’s glad Coronation Street bosses killed her off

MICHELLE Keegan has admitted she's GLAD Corrie bosses killed off her character Tina McIntyre.

The star thinks that it would have been bad for her career if the door had been left open for a return to the soap.

"I could have stayed at Corrie my whole life. It’s like a family there,"; she admitted to . “But I thought if I didn’t leave when I did, I never would have left because it was so comfortable.

The 29-year-old also revealed that not having Corrie as a "safety net" it makes her push herself to go to auditions and meetings.

Adding: "If the door had been left open at Corrie ... I would have thought, ‘It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t work out, I can always go back after a year’."

Michelle Keegan's career has been going from strength to strength since she left the soap.

The Northern beauty has been wowing viewers in BBC drama Our Girl, where she plays army medic Georgie Lane taking over from Lacey Turner.

She is also set to star in ITV drama Tina and Bobby based on Tina Dean's and Bobby Moore's relationship in which she will play Tina which will air next year.

The actress has also appeared in BBC comedy Plebs, and alongside Jason Manford in Ordinary Lies since leaving the cobbles behind.

Michelle admitted that she couldn't believe her luck since leaving the soap saying: "I didn’t imagine it would go as well as it has since I left Corrie. I’ve been very lucky. It’s been a case of the right place, right time."

Michelle revealed she would like to star in a movie, and would love to take on a darker role like a serial killer in the future.

But before she heads to Hollywood, Michelle is joining up with Rio Ferdinand on the Crystal Maze.

It’s been revealed they will be taking part in the re-vamped show for a Stand Up To Cancer special hosted by Stephen Merchant.
