Joe Lycett investigated by POLICE over ‘offensive’ joke on tour
COMEDIAN Joe Lycett had the police called on him after an audience member found one of his jokes offensive.
The 33-year-old opened up how he thought the joke was "one of the best" he'd ever written but still was forced to defend it to investigating officers.
Joe had to write a letter "explaining the context" of the gag after an audience member dobbed him in to cops after watching him perform live.
"So someone came to my tour show a few weeks back and was offended by one of the jokes. And their perfectly understandable response to this was… to call the f***ing police," Joe revealed on his social media.
";This involved me writing a statement explaining the context of the joke for them; I particularly enjoyed putting the words ‘giant donkey d**k’ into a message to a police detective.
“Charmed, and hopefully amused, the rozzers have since closed the matter.
"You’ll be pleased to know that the joke - which I consider to be one of the best I’ve ever written - remains firmly and proudly in the show.
"The tour continues until September, unless I am jailed."

Alongside his post, the comedian shared a screenshot of the email sent by police informing him they “now consider this matter closed”.
He added on Twitter: "The fuzz were very nice about it, but felt a duty to investigate."
Joe's fans rushed to congratulate him on not getting into trouble with RuPaul's Drag Race queen Ginny Lemon revealing she'd had a similar experience.
"I once said the C word at Worcestershire Pride and they called the police. One of my proudest moments 💛," she wrote.

Joe's no stranger to controversy, recently revealing he once walked off stage in shame after telling a joke about missing Madeleine McCann.
Joe said he was doing a stand-up challenge at a club while at university when he was forced to walk off.
The Live At The Apollo star told the Changes podcast: “People get up and the audience have cards.
“If they don’t like you they put the card up and you get gonged.
“I had one joke which was about Madeleine.
“Silence was the reaction of the room. I wasn’t gonged off, I just walked off.
"I was mortified. Friends there didn’t want to be with me.
"I thought comedy was saying something shocking.”
The comedian recently decided to step down hosting The Great British Sewing Bee fans after three years.
