Jesy Nelson’s debut solo album delayed

JESY NELSON’S solo album is on ice after early versions of her new tracks failed to impress record label bosses, sources say.

The former Little Mix star released her much-awaited debut single Boyz, which featured Nicki Minaj as well as a video cameo from rapper-turned-mogul P Diddy, in October.

But there has been no sign of new music from her since.

Sources last night claimed Jesy was sent “back to the drawing board” by execs at her label Polydor after they heard her unfinished efforts.

We’re told there is currently no date pencilled in for the album’s release.

One source said: “Jesy has worked incredibly hard on her solo music.

“After releasing Boyz last year, she let the label hear early versions of the songs she had come up with.

“The bosses felt sure there was potential there but they wanted her to go back to the drawing board. They felt the tracks would benefit from it — so that is what she has done.

“She is determined to only play them the new music when it’s perfect, so they haven’t heard any more since then.

“But she is a talented girl and everyone is excited to hear more when she is ready. There are high hopes for her debut album when it is finally complete.”

Jesy posted snaps on Instagram this week, posing in a red sweatshirt and matching knickers along with the caption: “I’ll be loyal only to you . . . ”

The post sparked speculation among fans that the caption was teasing new lyrics.

One follower wrote: “OMG! Are these lyrics by any chance?"

And another added: “Miss Nelson, we need music.”

Sources close to the star confirmed she is still working on the album — and that there is no date in place for the record to be released.

But they insisted there has not been a setback in planning.

We can’t wait to hear what Jesy releases when she finally feels ready to push the button.

LILY COLLINS is best known for playing a chic PR queen in Netflix hit series Emily In Paris.

But the actress, who also starred in Les Miserables, has admitted she is much more comfortable in roles that are, well, grubbier.

Lily, the daughter of rocker Phil Collins, told Bustle mag: “I like playing characters where there’s not an attention to perfection, and you can be grimy and dirty, and you’re crying, and you’re outside in the elements, and there’s not really a lot of touch-ups.

"There’s something very freeing to me about that, and I can feel more comfortable on set like that sometimes because I know I’m not trying to look a certain way.”

NETFLIX is set to splash millions on a major new documentary about Eighties pop idols Wham!

Andrew Ridgeley, who sold more than 30million records as part of the band with the late George Michael, will make a “significant” contribution to the project.

He has been in talks with Netflix bosses and is said to be “very keen” to speak about his chart-topping experiences.

Andrew is largely absent from the upcoming Freedom Uncut film about his former bandmate’s life, which hits cinemas later this month.

A source said: “The Netflix team jumped at the chance to make this film. The Wham! story is an incredible one and who better to offer insight than Andrew? It is a really exciting project and they are putting a lot of resources into it.

“Andrew is also very keen for the opportunity to look back over his years with George in the band – though it will, of course, be bittersweet for him.

"It is a welcome chance to celebrate what they achieved together and will give fans a unique look behind the scenes.”

The film is the latest documentary by the streaming giant, which promises an intimate look at Wham!

They’ve previously profiled Taylor Swift in Miss Americana and Lady Gaga in Five Foot Two.

The source added: “The bosses are confident this will be just as much of a hit, if not more.”

LOVE ISLAND star Lucie Donlan goes mellow yellow in stunning canary lingerie for her latest fashion shoot.

Lucie, who shot to fame on the ITV2 show in 2019, posted snaps on Instagram of her brightest look yet.

The model and surfer failed to find love in the villa.

But she is now happily loved up with another past contestant Luke Mabbott – who popped the question last year.

That’s a sunny side if ever we saw one.

Another Duncan night, Rylan?

IF there was any chance Rylan Clark has been feeling maybe a little down about his split from husband Dan, his behaviour at the Mighty Hoopla festival suggested otherwise.

Our backstage mole spotted the BBC Radio 2 presenter getting cosy and holding hands with BLUE singer Duncan James.

Our source reported: “Duncan and Rylan appeared to be having a whole lot of fun together. They were enjoying a few drinks at the side of the stage during some of the sets.

“It didn’t look like anything too serious but they seemed to be enjoying each other’s company.”

Rylan went on to make his single status clear to fans in the audience when he introduced Steps later on during the evening.

He told the crowd: “I’m not going to lie, this is my first Mighty Hoopla. And two things – one, I’m drunk and two, I’m now single.

“My Instagram DMs are open and I’m checking them on the hour, every single hour.”

If his behaviour with Duncan is anything to go by, they might not stay open for very much longer.

Plucky in love Tom

GRANTCHESTER actor Tom Brittney has turned to dating app Bumble in his search for love.

And it turns out what Tom wants more than anything is a girl who shares his love of . . . chicken wings.

He wrote on the site: “We’ll get on if: You can help me find the best wings in London.”

In his profile, Tom describes himself as a 6ft 2in Scorpio who wants a relationship and – some day – kids.

He lists his interests as photography, museums, gigs, galleries and beaches.

To be honest, Tom, you had us with the chicken wings.

LIAM GALLAGHER made a triumphant return to Knebworth for the first time in 26 years – and used the occasion to pay tribute to his fiancée and his mum.

The Oasis rocker, who opened the first of two sold-out shows at the Herts venue with a show of hands from those who saw him there in 1996, dedicated Slide Away to Debbie Gwyther.

Later in the set, anthem Live Forever was played in honour of his mum “Peggy G”.

Liam – who has just released third LP C’Mon You Know – had the crowd well and truly with him with his solo material.

But it was the catalogue of Oasis hits that really brought the fans alive.

And with Stand By Me, they positively exploded.

But more surprises were in store, as Liam welcomed Stone Roses legend John Squire on stage for finale Champagne Supernova.

Dazzling fireworks then rained down on the pair as they closed the show.

Sally will have to wait until Liam patches things up with brother Noel to give the world a real Oasis comeback, but until then, the band’s spirit is alive and well.

RITA ORA has opened up about the struggles she faced as a 16-year-old breaking into the cut-throat music industry, revealing how one clash with a music exec left her in tears.

The Hot Right Now hit-maker, who moved to the UK from Kosovo as a baby, was managed by older sister Elena when she started out.

And she recalls how Elena was tasked by their parents with firing a “very successful” exec on her behalf.

Speaking alongside Elena on Sabrina and Idris Elba’s Coupledom podcast, she said: “I remember when my parents couldn’t speak English properly and we got ourselves into this pickle of a really bad deal before I had my first major deal.

“My sister had just left university at this point and my mum said, ‘You have to go in there and fire this man’. And by the way, this man is very successful in his own right.

“But it just didn’t fit us. So my mum said, ‘Go in there and fire him and I’ll wait downstairs in the car’.

“My sister was like, ‘What?’ So she walks in and this little girl is firing this massive music man at the time.

“And I just remember being 16 and I sat there, I cried, I was so scared.

“But I think it really was a wake-up call for both of us to see that, wow, we could actually do this.”

IT’S been four years since The Killers’ last concert tour and they were back with a vengeance as they took to the stage at London’s Emirates Stadium on Friday.

Frontman Brandon Flowers was at his lively best, hollering to the crowd: “Nobody is isolating tonight!”

And his words set the tone for the whole evening, which felt like a celebration of putting on a proper show, thanks to an incredible light display and stunning graphics.

Brandon told the audience: “It feels like everything we’ve been doing this past year has been leading up to tonight and it feels good.”
