CORONATION Street fans were left open-mouthed as Fiz Stape discovers Phill Whittaker’s dark secret.
The factory worker - played by Jennie McAlpine on the ITV soap - was devastated to find out Phill had been planning to write a book about her ordeal with her serial killer ex John Stape.
Since Phill's arrival in Weatherfield in July, 2021, viewers were happy to see the Underworld machinist move on from Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall), but others were suspicious Phill could be hiding something.
In recent episodes, Tyrone was suspicious of Phill after spotting him with a mysterious envelope.
In tonight's instalment, Fiz's volatile daughter Hope (Isabella Flanagan) figured out what Phill's secret was.
After taking a day off school because she was feeling ill, Hope borrowed Phill's laptop and discovered a folder containing research about her serial killer dad John Stape for a book.

Sadly for him, Hope retaliated in ruthless fashion and took it upon herself to get revenge.
Horrified, Phill watched Hope pull a lever on a digger as it smashed the windscreen on his car.
Fiz and Tyrone raced round to find the troubled youngster sitting in aboard the digger and demanded to know what triggered her outburst.
Later on, Hope asked Tyrone if she was a bad person.

She explained that she found out about her dad John's sinister past from Phill's laptop, leaving Tyrone furious.
The mechanic then told Fiz what Phill has been hiding on his laptop.
Despite Phill admitting that he was only doing this to help Fiz get her side of the story across.
Viewers were shocked at Phill's shock true intentions.
One wrote: "#CoronationStreet Phil is caught out by Hope."
Another posted: "F***ing dump him Fiz. He is a big w****r."
A third said: "Never did like that Phil. Fiz and Tyrone 4eva."
Although Phill pleaded with Fiz to understand, the machinist was adamant that he had crossed a line and ended their relationship.
